So here is what most people don't know about text messages...
- There is no special "text message protocol" or sub network.
- Text messages get sent and received on the same part of the signal used to do the handshakes with the nearest cell towers.
- There is no "quality of service" on text messages. This means that if it shows up right away, an hour later, or six months later (as has happened), that's perfectly acceptable to the cell phone providers.
