If I don't need to know Sam, I don't spend any time or energy on it. Reading your response, why am I not surprised it ties to laws and/or religious beliefs. Thank you for sharing the trivia about ice cream sundaes.

Ice Cream sundaes were invented when it became illegal to sell ice-cream sodas on a Sunday in Evanston, Illinois during the late 19th century. To get round the problem some traders replaced the soda with syrup and called the dessert an "Ice Cream Sunday." They replaced the final "y" with an "e" to avoid upsetting religious leaders. Sundae.

Passing a law against selling ice cream sodas on Sunday sounds foolish, although apparently in 1890 it seemed OK. In a hundred years from now, what will the next generations think about our ever increasing city ordinances being enacted today?

John Gorrie invented the ice maker. Just west of here, in Apalachicola, Florida in the 1800's. His statue is in the United States Capitol. A few years later, Willis Carrier capitalized on his ideas and invented air conditioning.
Ice cream? IDK about that.
