What is it that has you thinking of North Tazewell, Virginia?  It sounds like quite a change from New York City.

        A brief surf of the internet for "Tazewell" shows a pretty little town in the Appalachian Mountains.  We have a vacation house in Highlands, NC in the Appalachians, farther to the south... Tazewell looks like the same kind of atmosphere.  

        Have you visited Tazewell?  It looks nice!

Southern VA is different than Northern VA where I live. You might want to visit and or rent there before making any definate plans. There are many places in VA to retire similar to Tazewell. I'd make a list of things that will be important to you like hospitals, assisted living, transportation options, will you have kids, grandkids, etc visiting?, local economy, crime-police-fire, etc.

North Tazewell has a total of 6,102 people and of those residents there are 2,996 males and 3,106 females.

Be prepared to cope with small town living and fewer conveniences.

I resided in Northern VA for some years, but did not have the opportunity to visit North Tazewell.

I know nothing about the area but it seems that some Rainers do. Good luck. You are wise to do a lot of research before making a decision.

I think Chris Ann Cleland is in Bristow. Since you mentioned it is about 60 miles from there, she may know the area and be able to help you.

Hi Kenneth, I live in Lewisburg, WV county seat of Greenbrier County.

Tazewell is close to Bluefield and Princeton, WV. And about 1 1/2 hours from Lewisburg. Bluefield was once a great place to live, but with the coal mines closing it has changed a lot since I lived there.
