I understand from designer friends of mine that wallpaper is now making a comeback. Mostly I see it used as an accent wall these days. Whe used judiciously, I like it.

I'm hearing it's making a comeback but, gosh, I just can't get back into it - it's SO much work to change it or remove it and the taste is so highly personal, I would advise against selling a home with it.

I'm not seeing it with new construction here at all, Fred.

I see it in custom homes as indeed accent walls. But not your parent's wallpaper with the flowers or the farm implements. More to look like painted walls, wood, etc...

Vinyl flooring is also coming back.

It's not making a comeback here (yet). Most buyers do NOT want wallpaper. In fact, if they walk in a room with it, I almost immediately hear, "Well, we're definitely going to rip THAT down!"

As much as I am not a fan of wallpaper, I am definitely seeing it more than ever.  I just listed a home this week and one of the bedrooms had one wall that was papered.  I had more positive comments on that one room and many asked me to get the name for them.  It's called Wall Pop and it's actually temporary wallpaper.

This is the room and looks great.Wall Pop | Temporary Wallpaper

It is definitely making a comeback. I am not sure if the new stuff is any better than the stuff we used 30 years ago.

If it does make a comeback look for the number of divorce lawyers to increase. Hanging wallpaper caused more arguments than any other home improvement.

When I see wallpaper in our niche, it's 'Grandma's wallpaper', because the house is 30 years old, in an age-restricted community - do not at all care for it Fred Griffin.  When I see it in new home models, it's very upscale and looks wonderful, so go figure . . .

I don't think that comeback would be the term I would use.  I do see a few people doing it or considering it...in small areas (e.g. bathroom, accent wall) and usually when it's done it's subtle and more neutral in color with some texture.

I have seen a lot of it on pinterest & amazon and people asking about "removable" wallpaper...and then I have news for them...it's not really removable.  It's easier to remove than old stuff, but still requires wall smoothing & prep afterwards.
