Exactly, just because someone thinks it's OK to speak to you in an abusive manner it doesn't mean their words are true, nor that you did anything wrong. Some people have build up resentment & rage & they go through life exploding on everyone in their path. 

Luckily most people I deal with are grateful for the service we provide & the hard work that goes into every deal. 

Agree 1000%. Words like that do not hurt me - I consider the source and would not give a person like that another nanosecond of my time. We are obviously on such opposite ends of the abundance spectrum, maybe in the next life they will get it. I have no need to convince anyone of my value . . . they either will meet me vibrationally or not! 

Of course it is not a pleasant feeling to hear such a remark.  I find that after the initial shock of someone speaking about my service in such a manner, I think about that person and how awful they must feel about the world.  Surely they are thinking the world is an unsafe place; I cannot help but think they need professional help to assist them with their safety issues.

I've had people say " You are a dime a dozen.  If you dont do this, I'll find someone who will"  This was for something on the unethical side, that I wouldn;t do...   I told them good luck and that I'm sure they would find someone who could work with them.   Best decision I ever made. I never looked back.

I would find a new tactic... like stop using lead generation companies!!!

That wouldn't have bothered me as I would have known the context. The agents (or many) called this guy 10 seconds after he hit send on his computer. It is quite frightening & annoying when that happens. I made the mistake once with a car that I saw on line & will never do it again to anybody!

I cannot remember a single client that said anything abusive to us...and seriously, that is no BS.

I do however hear slams from my clients about other agents...

I just nod my head and say I understand...and no, I don't defend them.

We all must have and show value.

I don't let anyone's comments disrupt my business.... plus, no one has ever called me a vulture....only a piranha by another agent after I closed a listing he interviewed for, too!!!!  I thought of it as a great compliment....

I never heard that one before but sure they say it.

oh boy!  I always wanted to be part of the group.

I acknowlege that they are expressing anguish and are upset but also make it know that we are not all alike and should not be painted by the same brush. That is if they haven't hung up.

I don't necessarily see it as a disruption. At least I know I can spend my time, energy, and money somewhere where my efforts are more appreciated. 

Going into late 2008 I had a Seller put their home ont he market, and he had to sell.  Very stressed, and took his frustration out on me.   This was a past client that I had assisted with a few transactions.   He apologized at the table with everyone there he was a jerk.

My worth is not defined by what others think or feel about me. I know who I am. I know the value I bring to life. What others say is not a testament to my character, it speaks of them, and them alone. 

I would ask them why they said this.

I agree with Ken.

When anyone projectile vomits words I am simply not in their pathway. The negativity doesn't land on me. It's their anger and resentment, and it isn't about me. I know I am fallible, flawed, and imperfect. And I know I offer excellent service to every client. Peace comes with every conscious, conscientious step.

I'm not taking angry reactions personally, people are often upset and frustrated and it is nothing to do with me.

I will always make a real attempt to show a person that all agents are not the same, but if they are stuck it's just buh bye.

Honestly, I'd rather have someone say what they think than hold it inside.  I welcome any comment or thought on the profession.  I don't find it abusive at all.  Our industry has a crappy reputation for a reason.  There are tons of crappy agents in every market.  

I'd rather have it all out in the open and allow me to express what makes me different and explain my value to a potential client.  If they don't see it, we will part ways.  

Besides, these comments are rarely really about us.  They are about an emotion of feeling slighted monetarily.

Generally it doesn't bother me. Someone that says something like that likely has deeper issues that I don't want to know about.
