Sure would. I actually inquired not too long ago about buying it. I would make some changes, but also just bring back some of the things that has made the platform so good over the years.
I don't have the tech wherewithal myself to get things moving optimally, but I do know the people that could. Lots of techie friends - programmers, CIOs, etc.

Fred Griffin There are a little over 297,000 members. I wonder how many are paying vs. free accounts? I have to agree with Joe Pryor , I don't believe the ROI is there. Google Juice used to bring them in by the hundreds, but I don't think so much anymore. Your post on page one two-three minutes after posting it was quite an incentive. Now they seem to be buried. No I would not purchase it.

Yes to your questions, as a co-owner with partners if I could make some $$$ off of it to account for my time and intellectual property.
Used to own a technology company. I get it.

It's probably cheap to buy since they've let it go so much.
- improve retention and increase involvement
- restructure the points system and incentives/contests
- reinstate ARU and Rain Camps
- Actually post Podcasts on the Podcast site that's been devoid of content for almost a year.
- Improve the performance; eliminate the gremlins I see daily complaints about.
- No, I wouldn't buy it.

Absolutely I would buy it.
I know where to find the tech skills needed to keep this thing cobbled together.
Would I keep it the same? Hell no.
I would maintain the agent to agent element of blogs and Q & A, but this would be a section of a much more valuable asset for participating agents.
I would take payment in Bitcoin, Litcoin, Dorittos, Ethereum, Dash, Kodakcoin, Firtborn, Ripple, Humus, Digitcash, Bitshares and USD.
However, the real currency is agent participation. The more logs in the fire the more heat created. If thereis to much crybaby stuff then its back to the 'In God We Trust' but the rest of you pay cash.
Then I'd pay those folks at Nividia to get on with the 'punctuation.' It would be a platform from which those of vision, awareness and courage can see the opportunity to make change before the caous insues.
Those holding NAR close to their heart, will be left at the curb.

Buy it? No, I'm techno-challenged...remember? BUT possibly consider buying a share in it and acting as a director/consultant, depending on who was purchasing it and what their plans were for revamping and taming the monster it has become.
AR needs to go back to basics and find its identity in today's world. The groups are no longer relevant for the most part and the membership list is out of control. It needs to be limited to active members so there is incentive for members to post and participate. The free accounts need to go, that would help reduce or eliminate spam and there are many other changes I would make.
A girl can dream...

The keeping a large site protected from spam, from peak overload, to update the software and keep your eagle eye on the SEO would be a full time job for a team Fred Griffin. But as far as if you or I or any AR individual or team owned it, what would we do. First order, the entire feature page would be first time, never got the gold star. This would spur the new blogger to participate and be recognized, attract new bloggers in the same boat to connect. Now there is a sea of sameness. In fact the same blogger more than once on a given day. Then I would have a side bar for quick flavors of quick and easy, hit and run on Better Listing Tips, What Buyers Want, What Sellers Need, Social Media, Blogging 101, Websites, Videos, etc as the primary new and fresh daily rather than hit or miss and taking lots of time scanning, digging, trying to find worthwhile reads and not just market reports although those have their place too.

No. Ben would have to take a huge loss for me to be able to afford it at a price that makes sense for me. Aside from that, I just don't have the bandwidth to run it... it really needs to be a full-time job. As much as I'd like to be a figurehead CEO and make the big decisions while others do the grunt work, it wouldn't be fair to the members. Besides, I'd want to do stupid stuff like re-write the entire site in one or two programming languages and fully document it to make updates easier. I'd remove the product recommendation section and referral section completely since they aren't used. Probably kill groups too for now. Just focus on blogs and Q&A in the new system then re-introduce groups.
But most importantly of all, I'd get my dog and Candice A. Donofrio's dog to ride in Barbara Todaro's convertible and that would be the new company mascot photo!

I got introduced into AR because Trulia sold my name to Kenny. I think it should be a free site using advertisements or additional features for revenue.
Redfin closed the local blog and directed to their agents and a group set up one just for the local SFBA area. They all had niocknames but I have met a few investors.
What AR lacks in clients interactions. Hey, I am an investor looking for someone in Hollywood who can help me with my problems....
All these sites haphazardly put slapped together one can search on the WWW w/o a strong SEO expert.

Having owned multiple tech companies, this is a difficult question to answer without knowing something about the financials. However, although relatively new, I sense that some of the value that used to be on the platform in the past has gone. I also see so many posts that offer so little value that it is questionable if AR will be able to maintain value into the future. It seems like many people post garbage, just to get points. This is a content driven world, if the quality of content diminishes, over time the audience will as well. Just my humble opinion.
