Yes and my answer has been the same "he/she is a good agent why do you ask, let's talk about what I can do for you, after all isn't that the reason you asked me to come here?"

If I like the agent I will say so. If I don't like the agent I just politely say I don't discuss other agents.

Yes, it actually happens often. I try to keep personal feeling out and tell them what i can do that makes me stand out over other agents. 

No sir not yet, if it did happen I would not criticize the other agent under any circumstances

Of course. There have been times I've been given an earful, and responded, "Yes, I've had the pleasure . . ." with smile and wink.
There have also been times a prospective has asked about an agent, & I advised "That is a professional, competent agent; if they said/did that, they were probably right."
In our profession, we have great people and terrible people.
Sometimes the terrible people are the prospects.

It's always about what you do not what you can find wrong about the other agent. 

Always keep it positive, hmm then there is always that one agent, again keep it positive.

I tell them that there are many capable agents that can do the job, just like carpenters and bricklayers. You just need to interview a few, and choose one that you feel good about working with to get the job completed.

I remember the importance of elevating the profession. 

Say something positive about the other person, and move onto what I will be doing for them.

I have Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS, I always stay positive and do not badmouth the competition. 

I never say anything negative about any agent..... I'd rather just say I don't know any details about that agent....

I've never been ASKED about another agent, but I've had people mention that they've interviewed a specific agent.  Sometimes it's an agent I'm friends with, my response has been "Oh ____, yes I know him/her pretty well, we're good friends."

Key things, never put someone else down.  Take the high road because chances are they other person won't.  Like Endre Barath, Jr. said, put the focus back on you and how you can help them.

I have never had anyne ask me that, but I would never talk negatively about another agent..that would be very unprofessional.  I would just say I don't know them, or have never worked with them.. and proceed with my presentation demonstrating what I could do for them and why they should hire me.

Yes recently I did. I kept it sweet, and very short. 

Many ways and means to get something done or going. This person may or may not perform so do your homework i.e. talk to him like you talk to me. When ready to make a decision, don't doubt. If I can help, let me know

If it's someone who I know is good, I will tell them that.  Someone who I don't know, I also tell them.  If I know they are not good, I tell them I know the person but would prefer not to say anything.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS, Yes I have and usually the comments were not good. I would tell them that the person is a good agent and it probably just wasn't a good fit. In most cases the agent is a good one. Remember, if they bad mouth another agent to you, they will probably bad mouth you.

Well, that's what I would like to say, but what I say depends on the question?  "Does Bernadette drive a beamer?" would get an answer.

"Is Bernadette an honest agent?' would not get a useful answer.

Yes.  Seller pulled out a calendar he received from the agent who represented him when he purchased the home. As he held the calendar out he said ... "do you this guy?"  I said ... yes I do. He is affiliated at the same office as me. 

The seller went on to tell me how he disliked the agent.  I listened .... and that was it. 

When the agent learned that I had that listing ... sales are reported in house ... not by me but by management ... the agent called me a Biatch. 

I do not bad mouth any agent no mater how I feel about them

Yes, Roger has though I have not, yet Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS,.  He was asked at an Open House, by a couple, about a certain realtor who he knew, because they had been talking to that person.  He had positive comments to say, and I personally would never say anything negative about another realtor.  We do not have to 'think the same' nor 'have the same style'.

No; I would be taken back if I was dealing with such a crude, rude person and think rtwice about taking the listing. What is he saying about me to my peers?

A few times. Always a praise for the 'other' agent - however, I am the best.....lol!

It's actually been quite a while but I focus on what I will do rather than the other agent. Who knows if they are talking to that agent, too?

If I believe they are great, I say so. If I think anything else I will say little but something nice about their hair, which avoids the point

I recently sold a he seller that I thought the agent that she seller wanted to hire would do a fine job for them.  he and she aren't together anymore and he wanted to hire me.

Not being asked, but some people mentioned RE names, since everyone knows someone or many others who has a license. Sometimes I know them, often I do not since there are thousands agents in L.A. And usually they bring the information they heard from that person( discounted commissions, some kind of marketing or advice they gave), so I focus on the information, not on the agent herself. 

I know most of the active associates and if asked usually say something to the effect of "Yes, I know them and personally, I wouldn't let them sell my home." Sometimes there'll be a chuckle afterwards.

Yes and I respond that I have respect for all the work all my colleagues do; then go on to how I do it.

I get this in the Mortgage Business all the time. My answer is I am sure he/she is very competent. I have learned many, many years ago.......Never "Bad Mouth" the competition. I think it is very unprofessional. I may say to my borrowers....get it in writing!!!
