I have no kids and all those two days are for my family is an early dinner together.  Now with that said, if I had a HOT buyer client that wanted to buy a VACANT home that just popped up, I'd show it and write the offer... I just wouldn't expect a reply from the agent until the following day.

If I received an offer on a listing, I'd say "Merry Christmas" to the seller and let them know Santa brought them an offer and see if they wanted to go over the main points (price, coe, % down) and how they wanted to proceed.  If it was a full-price clean offer and they were available, I'd be willing to meet and get it signed off, maybe bring some hot apple cider with to celebrate.  If it needed a counter, that could wait until the next day.

I did see on lab coat agents yesterday where an agent knocked on the door of the seller's home to show the property on Christmas day.  No call, just "in the neighborhood with the buyers."  The seller slammed the door in his face.  I wouldn't intrude on an occupied home on those days.

I don't mind "working" around the house as in chores I've been neglecting John Meussner but if a client or potential client asked me to do RE work I'd say SORRY.

BTW the State of ND was the last State to do away with Blue Laws. I clearly remember the days where it was illegal to be open for business on a Sunday. Most recently stores could not open until noon but that recently bit the dust in the name of progress.

I'm in the "to each their own" camp. If they don't have family or friends to spend the day with or don't celebrate those holiday, I think it is fine to work. However, I don't think that they should make calls to others. It is one thing to send an email that someone can respond to at their leisure but quite another to call and expect to do business right then. It is likely that you are infringing on THEIR holiday celebration.

There should definitely not be a law against it. If someone wants to work, have at it. I can say over 32 years there has been only 4 times where someone was here in NH for Christmas, could not see any other time, was ready to buy and i sold all 4 of them the house they wanted to see. 3 new construction empty homes and a bank owned. I have probably sold another 6 new homes on Thanksgiving day, similar manners. I tell them up front, i ask lots of questions and will even say no if they do not have the right answers. It is not a time for looking but buying

If a client wants to put their house on the market and/or see the perfect home on one of those holidays, and all parties including the agent are okay with that, then I say go for it. There are lots of people who don't celebrate Christmas, and many who don't have anyone to share Thanksgiving with, so if they want to work, that's perfectly fine.

I don't work on either day. Well, at least I don't have any appointments or make any calls. I do admit to sneaking a peak at emails and the like.
