It was bound to happen! We've been enjoying this ride for far longer than I ever imagined we would!

They've been signalling for months that there would be an increase in December. Surprise! Well, maybe not so much a surprise afterall!

The problems with keeping them low is that we get use to it and kick and scream when it's time for them to go back up to where they should be.

It will happen three times between now and a year from now. We’ll remain in the 4’s so it’ll remain amazingly low. (Anything under eight percent is still amazing historically).

Well, they were promising it for so long. But it is not significant this time. 

I think they will hold off until spring. Trump knows a sharp raise in rates could put the breaks on the booming economy. New mortgage starts are still low, so mortgage rates will stay down

It was indeed expected, and it's a good thing. It's also a reflection that our general economy is doing well. We want that.

Keep in mind that greater return will bring more money into mortgage securities, mortgage loans will become more competitive and that will help fuel real estate sales.

From what I understand there was no reason to do it. Not sure what their thinking was -- duh!~

Rates are so low that I don't think it makes a real difference.

No one likes higher interest rates but it is something we all see coming & it is aimed at keeping financial markets in check.

Nothing like Connecticut's Governor Malloy's plan to double the Sales Tax on Real Estate Sales in our home state. That, just like his policies on Corporate taxes which drove the big business' in CT out, will have an adverse effect on the number of people looking to purchase in the state. We're all waiting for him to go, even the dolts that voted him in for a 2nd term. 

Just a tiny adjustment.

Has to happen.  Needs to happen.  Can't lower them to stimulate the economy if they don't raise them first!  Don't want to be one of those countries like Greece with negative interest rates!

I don't worry about things like that. I just mind my business.

Expect higher mortgage rates in the new year.

Rates go up and rates go down. We paid 13% when we bought our house in 1985. I have a friend who paid upwards of 20%. People will always buy real estate

Not too worried about it. It will mainly affect credit cards first.

It is all about inflation if found.

I think that its pretty silly how they talk about it month after month, and then do it. Seems like very sloppy policy, and not a good way to manage the health of the economy.

     As to your question:  Interest rates have been artificially low for way too long.  They are bound to increase.

I am not surprised

These 1/4% hikes drive me nuts. I would much rather see a .75 or 1% jump to get the ball rolling. I have no worries that the economy can't handle such a HUGE rise.

If what goes up must come down is true ... then ... never mind. 

I do believe it is time for adjustments to be made. 

This rate increase was known for at least 6 months, so there was no surprise. Rates will continue to go up in 2018 but very gradual

I think they are not done yet. Expect 8 more half point adjustments before the trajectory is interrupted.
