We do either or. We usually do $25 per transaction to Childrens Miracle Network as a company. 

There was an agent that I heard of that would pay for the adoption fees for people that couldn't afford it at an animal shelter near her. Our fees here are around $300 & I think she helped 100 families which I was impressed with.

The village has a fund called Neighbors helping Neighbors which helps people thruout the year when they get in a jam. They pay their water, electric or other bills when a true emergency comes up. Case worker determines need & pays bill directly on their behalf.

When I was a Remax agent, I donated to Children's Miracle Network from each transaction.  Now, I donate to specific organizations 

Christine, we do our donations to specific groups for specific reasons.  We do advertise that we donate and who to.  We do not do a per transaction donation.  All organizations are heavily vetted and we will NEVER, EVER donate to the united way.   The united way takes 70% of all donations as overhead expenses.  We use "Guidestar" (a free service) to review the annual filings of the organizations we donate to to make sure our money actually goes to the charity.

We do a donation amount per transaction, through our company's Care Foundation.  It covers many, many charities, all local to Tucson.  And how exciting is it to receive a letter saying that a donation has been made in your name, to different charities.  This is our Foundation's 10th Year Christine Kankowski North SD and Temecula.  "More than 2 million dollars in support has been donated to over 170 different non-profit organizations in the communities where we live and work."   

  Find a local organization or group where the money actually goes to the intended recipient. 

One of the agents in our brokerage offers $500 to the local home for challeneged boys with every successful referred to closing.

I give to our local fire department's Christmas fund and with each transaction closed; I give to the Seattle Children's Hospital ...

A percentage works well in my world...whatever percentage you desire in your heart.

Used to do it by the transaction. As a sole proprietor, do so as I feel the need!

I have annual amounts to some and others I just make a contribution.

Doing a big Toys For Tots drive tonight.

Several donations to natural disaster. A friend is serving on local Red Cross.

Brokerage has programs to cook for the poor etc.

I do not like annual fixed amount as I want to take control as some chartiies I want to change each year.  Some realtors stated they gave 10% of commission to charity. I operate differently.  Homeless is a big local problem.

Look around and visit with parts of your neighborhood that you dont frequent and you will see many in need and in hope. Start there

Money and time.

If your kids are in schools, it will be easy to decide since each of them ask for donations. Otherwise, choose whatever you are passionate about and help them. 

On every Colorado Gives day (was 12/5) I donate to a couple of charities that I am fond of.

I have something set up for all 4 grandkids.

Mine is an ongoing and so far to many different organizations, as long as it is for good cause.

We give regularly to our local church, private missionaries, a pregnancy resource center, a Christian youth ministry, and for the education of some children in impoverished parts of the world. The best use of your money is with a small charity or specific missionary. Large organizations lose sight of their mission and start spending more on administration and marketing than they do actually helping people in need.
