I actually know about this and there has been a movement lately to 'donate one's birthday' in exchange for donations to various charities, needs, even Planned Parenthood (and a young lady who generously donated her birthday to PP ended up in the eye of a political hurricane!) 
The water guys are doing it up right, so beautifully. Causes and charities are not to be trusted so seeing that they are tangibly 'walking their talk' in trackable fashion should comfort anyone who donates.
Do we have enough stuff? You have no idea. The paying forward seems endless . . .
The things most important to me . . . are not things.

I'm getting towards minimalist style of living. I donated so many bags these year and almost did not shop. I guess, the only things I bought this year: was my yoga retreat and new iphone.
