My answer, which leans toward "Yes", has to be tempered with "Who is that agent?"  As a Broker, I cannot interfere with another broker's agent.

What that means is the student agent will reach out for the help they need.

I personally would not, only because I do not have enough experience, and in some areas, need assistance myself - if I did, it would be a wonderful thing to do, and a good mentor is certainly worth their weight in gold!  So nice to read that you had an excellent mentor in Law Brian L. Sirota, Esq.

As a team owner, I am dedicated to the success of the agents on my team. I train, role play, coach, mentor, shadow them and let them shadow me. I require them to attend the core courses of the company, such as IGNITE and BOLD. The company has time-tested success models and we follow them.

Our brokerage is not a training office, but we do take one one or two new agents each year. I typically spend a lot of time working with them to get them up to speed on good real estate practices. And the other agents in the brokerage offer them opportunities through open house hosting.

Brian L. Sirota, Esq. Yes, I totally agree. Mentoring is and should be the first step for a new agent. Why reinvent the wheel when a new agent can take advantage of the experience and lessons learned of a seasoned agent. Yes, I have mentored new agents when I worked in a big box company. I also mentored my new agents when I had my own company.

Of course.  Anything that raises industry standards is good for everyone.

It is my opinion that it should be mandatory for EVERY new agent to have a mentor/trainer.  Some need a longer training period than others.  Of course, many experienced agents acknowledge the value of on-going training to keep them moving forward and upward.

I am not the Broker but we earn 5% on all of the Agent's future sales when we bring someone new into the company. I've brought several people in &  spent countless hours answering questions, training & giving them hands-on experience. At some point they all move on to another company or job. One stepped on my toes by trying to take clients. It wouldn't stop me from taking on more new agents but I would definitely prefer experienced agents.

It depends. Usually no. I don't have the patience to be available and on call to teach others. I've noticed that some newer agents already think they know it all. Those would be a definate No from me.

I would and did when I was affiliated with a Big Box Brokerage.  As an independent broker flying solo, I do not want to take on the responsibility (E&O and management) of another agent.  There is only one person I know that I would have associate with me ... she is also a broker and an attorney. The only reason we would affiliate would not be for training and mentoring, it would be for partnership in the business.
