Carbon Monoxide Alarms. Note: If the improvements on the Property have a fuel-fired heater or appliance, a fireplace, or an attached garage and include one or more rooms lawfully used for sleeping purposes (Bedroom), the parties acknowledge that Colorado law requires that Seller assure the Property has an operational carbon monoxide alarm installed within fifteen feet of the entrance to each Bedroom or in a location as required by the applicable building code.

We have local requirements.

Maryland’s Smoke Alarm Law requires the replacement of all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old. This applies to both hard-wired and battery-operated smoke alarms.

The paperwork for a new buyer to sign that says you will put in if there is not already one is in place. That slip of parchment gets signed at the sit down to pass the keys, slide the check please. But no one comes around to police to see if the buyer did install a smoke / co detector.

CAlifornia- new laws include having 10 year nonremovable batteries. For Landlords, they are required to test them and make sure they are operational and do safety checks.   Landlord repsonsibility, not tenants.
