NO, of course not. Government should largely stay the hell out of our lives. They work for us, and we will call them when there is a natural disaster or potholes in the highways. We do not need Nanny Fed in our beezwax--and that goes for its incestuous li'l cousin Nanny State.

What's that smell?  Did someone open the sewer grate?  Oh no, wait... it's a shit idea!

Seriously though, that goes against everything this country and capitalisim is founded upon.  Regulate wages and you'll see effort drop to the bare minimum.  When I was at Guitar Center's corporate office one year in a town hall meeting (mid year) they told everyone "there will be no raises this year OR next year."  Man, the entire row I was sitting in (including myself) were on Monster.com right as that sentence finished.  You could see people saying and thinking "Well shit, guess I'll just do enough work NOT to get fired."  Yeah, that's what regulated pay will get you.

Absolutely not. A free market should determine what an employee will make. Want to make more,  learn a trade, go to college, work at a job doing good work and nove up through the ranks. Everyone can not start at the top. What happened to being rewarded for hard work?

Well there are very few private industries, so I have mixed feelings.  I love pure capitalism, but that's not what we have --- we have "private" companies heavily subsidized on taxpayer dollars, and for them, yes, I think there should be a limit on them getting rich on our backs.

Never. You should see what  effect the Dodd-Frank Amendment has on Loan Officers. How would you like the government mandate the maximum percentage you could charge as a commission. That is basically what Dodd-Frank did to the mortgage industry.  Free enterprise and capitalism is the only system that works. They talk about China and Russia, they are more capitalistic  then any time in their history.

They already do! There is a minimum wage, overtime pay after 40 hours, mandatory breaks and work conditions are monitored. Some of this is federal and some is state. It is amazing how everybody who has posted so far don't see these rules as goverment regulation.

No, I think that min wage laws cause more damage than they help.  A lot of mid level employees being held down so that the employer can afford to pay those who are earning their pay.

I think they have the right to set minimums and also ensure adequate working conditions.  You may want to research back into the early 1900's to read about the child labor, deaths and injuries from poor working conditions and sweatshops.

Please provide an example.

Does not $15 an hour min wage respond to your question? Be aware, if it were lawful, many companies would love to compel $3 an hr minimal wage and sleep well at night.  Those in the less glamorous service industries battle variants of this on a daily basis. I know that when I can have sod laid for 40 cents a square, some illegal is making $3 an hour.

How about Gov regulating the pay of leaders of those organization promoted as Not for Profit.

Better still, gov should regulate the pay of gov employees who exit their elected or appointed public service positions to work for the very industry they aided while in gov service.

Let's not get me started on the pay of the criminal half-way houses known as college football and their head coaches.

Ok, now it's time to take a knee.
