8/15-9/15 is an annual last vacation/start of school slow down...but not this year.

Not really in downtown Chicago. Maybe a slight surge in June/July for those whose children are entering school for the first time, but most often these are renters!

Business slowed the week before school started and the week it started. Now 3 weeks in, the calls are picking up again.

Buyers looking for homes during the summer because they want to move their family before school starts is just one segment of the market. And this is an annual phenomena. My buyers this summer? Mostly investors.

School started?

It usually tends to slow down a little in the week or two before school, then ramp back up in September, but not sure that's the case this year.

Yes, a bit.  Prior to back to school, for the flooring business, it is the busiest time of year (2nd half August) as so many are away and so many people moving into new homes prior to BTS (day or two after Labor Day). 

Then, appts slow down for 1-1.5 weeks, then busier...then Jewish holidays, so a bunch put off the work for 2 to 3 weeks, then totally busy/rush from 2nd week October until Weds b4 Thanksgiving.  Same pattern every year...except for when we had the hurricane and freak snow storm in October and places were without power for 1 to 2 weeks and not as busy last year w/ election distraction.

Yes it comes to a screeching halt the week school starts back up and stays slow the entire month.

Start of school here was in early August and yes it does just a bit. Families want to get settled into new home before school starts.

Only when the soccer moms block my driveway waiting to drop off or pick-up their spawn. Unbelievably inconsiderate and nasty

Maybe...but it'll make me feel better if I can blame it on that.  So yes, let's go with "yes". : )

Not especially... it might be quietish this coming week because parents are busy getting their kids acclimated to the new school year and taking the long holiday weekend. But outside of that, it's business as usual for me.

Seriously -- school is a seasonal influence but there are people who buy/sell year-round.  I'm always in search of the best ways of finding the ones who are ready to make a decision and want to work with me

It absolutely slowed late July and August was pretty quiet.  Just now starting to get calls again.

Not that I've noticed.

My  personal life became busier, since now I spend about 2 hours additionally in a car driving my kid...

Yes. I still have three kids at home and my mornings and evenings are taken up with getting them ready, activities, and homework.

August is always slow! People are too busy.
