I don't see as many requests for that in the showing remarks as I used to.
I leave one in an occupied house as a courtesy to the seller (or tenant), so they will know who was in the house.

If the listing is vacant, many times the showing instructions say DO NOT leave a card.

Some sellers REALLY want those business cards - it indicates that a showing has occurred and when they return home, they know that no one is going to surprise them entering their home for a late showing.
However, most agents don't leave them. I heard the other day that new agents think "that's old school!" Really? I don't think it's old school at all - it's common courtesy!

It is not a requirement, but is generally considered a courteous and professional thing to do. Most agent in my area do leave them... I always do...Its helpfupl for the Seller too as they have confirmation the agent was there.

Nope. In fact, in our region it's frowned upon... some agents feel it's tantamount to solicitation... (you know... the "if you can't manage to sell your property... please remember my name... I'm the one who showed your property three times!").

Most agents don't leave them Paul. We use showing time all the time so we know who is coming and going in our listings and that is more important to us as we have all their contact info upfront.

There's no rule about it but a common courtesy, and may be not so common. With lockboxes there is a record of who was there and when. I always do so sellers I made the appointment with know I was there.

It's considered a courtesy here to leave a card in an occupied home so that homeowners know the agent has been and gone. But there's no hard and fast rule about doing so. I'd say two thirds of the agents who show my propeties leave a card and I personally always do so.

Not required but in our area its considered a courteous and professional thing to do. The seller needs to know you came and showed the house..some have come home and left because they were afraid the agent was running late and hadn't come yet. Very frustrating for sellers to second guess.

I don't see it as a requirement, but it's a courtesy to owner occupied homes who want to know if the scheduled appointment actually showed. One of the biggest complaints from sellers is that no one leaves a card.

It's a custom, but no requirement. The lockbox tells us who was there, so we don't need the cards to do that for us.

required? no, but I believe it is common courtesy to do so and it is my practice to do so. in an occupied property let's the Seller know it was actually shown.

It is a tradition and courtesy yes, it tells me who's a pro.
Your BIZ Card is your ticket in the house when it's occupied, I tel owners and tenants make them use the lockbox and hand you a card...security measure as much as a courtesy.
