Excited? No. Does it make a difference overal? I sure hope so but I am dubious. Training for some will not matter. I suppose that's rather jaded. I take the training online.

You would not have to keep drilling ethics if the industry changed the way things work. Higher barriers of entry, higher barriers for staying. Such as much, much, much higher annual fees, a tiered licensing system, a more extensive schooling program, exams for every class when getting a license, and huge penalties for breaking the rules including the loss of the license, and each agent must get their own E&O.

This would eliminate the wish-wash in the business and the people that simply don't belong. And more business for the ones that qualify.

It's the same training over and over again. Too easy for too many to phone it in. You could do it annually, monthly, weekly and it wouldn't make a difference. I agree with Ronald, proactive enforcement is what's needed in our industry. A tall order.

Just as having a driver's license won't keep you from texting and driving, regardless of what the law says, this requirement will not help anyone behave more ethically if it does not come to them naturally.

PS:  I only take classes online;  after years of listening to other peoples' "stories" (many of which made me cringe), I decided for my own mental health I was better served not being exposed to endless, meaningless anecdotes.

Excited?  It's not exactly the word I would choose to describe my feelings on the subject.

Education is good.  Putting that education into practice is better.

For me -- online for credit.  In person for the experience.

Given that my code of ethics exceeds that of any ofNAR's I'll go through it because i believe in being a Realtor, but it's kind of like a grandpa humoring his child "that's cute sweetheart" 🙄
I have to fall asleep for 1000 years before NAR caught up to my code of ethics 😎

I've always taken it in the classroom because it's usually available for free at some point. With the shorter timeline, I'll probably do it online.

It's amazing that we need to be trained every two years on how to treat people honestly and fairly.

Oh no, no, no... just another way to get money for classes if you ask me. If your instinct is not to be ethical, I don't care how many classes you take or how often... it won't make you more ethical. And after all these years that NAR has required this course, why do they feel it needs to be done more frequently--does this say what I've just said? That if someone isn't inclined to be ethical, they won't be?  I take all my classes live... just can't do the online stuff... I get distracted or I fall asleep in my chair.

Fred at this point an ethics class isn't going to make me a better agent - geez! But I do know that it is important to require this class as as we all know, some agents do 'forget' or simply don't care and they do what works best for them.

Online, and so it shows up on the NAR website since I am licensed in both California and Hawaii and both boards I belong to hound me on that. I know I took it twice recently. The frequency just doesn't make sense to me, but maybe many agents need to be reminded on what NAR considers "ethical". Many of the items are totally ignored in our profession.

Just another NAR money grab.  The Code is pointless and in my association you can't even be held accountable to it since we're all forced under duress to join!  I assume the majority of associations are that way too.

If I can find an open book exam way to take the tests I will.  Hopefully there is just an online course you can take w/no exam.  Just put it on and go grab a beer with the guys.

As if that would help.  In CA we are required to take the Ethics course every time we renew our license...we still have unethical agents.  If it was required weekly, I doubt it would make a difference.  Of course, there are $$$ to be made!
