Like everybody else, I'm a "used car guy".  Previous rentals have always been a hit with me.  Hertz, Avis etc.  They are serviced regularly and most business people don't abuse their rental car.

I'd be looking for good gas mileage or even a hybrid.

I have a foreign full-size car, a foreign SUV, and a foreign sports car.  Next cars will be a foreign full-size car, a domestic SUV, and a domestic sports car.

With rare exception, I buy previously owned (I bought a Buick Lucerne new in 2010, it was the last year of production for that car.  I sold it to a friend two years later, and went back to Mercedes).

We are looking to buy a "flagship" full-size car next year, that will be new, and foreign.

I'm a saver, John Bear so, I don't buy new cars!  I will shop for a year to find a one-year old, very low mileage car in mint condition!

The last one I bought was delivered to me (from Iowa to NC!) - a foreign, 1-year old car, loaded, with 5,000 miles on it that still looked and smelled like a brand new car!

Best car purchase I ever made - it drives like a dream!

I have never bought a new vehicle, this is seldom wise use of your money.

Over the past 40 years I have bought many vehicles and keep coming back to the extreme reliability of Toyota.

My favorites are the Prius and the Sienna.

Funny you should ask, I just bought a brand new 2017 Lexus RX 350 on July 1 and picked her up on July 3rd.

Only took me two years of research and looking at everything from Land Rovers to Fords to get to the point where I walked in and bought it.

Went with the Lexus because

1) Looks fricken sharp!  So sharp Ford and Honda have tried to copy the style (originally from the NX).

2) Great price (leasing for $500/m) and an incredible 4th of July deal, got it below dealer price.

3) It's a luxury brand.

4) It's a fancy Toyota and maintenance on those cars is zilch (especially compared to my BMW)

5) Takes regular gas instead of premium, that's a 40 cent per gallon savings in Cali!!!!

Right now, there are a LOT of dealerships with "Executive Leases" (cars leased for a year by dealership employees) and "Loaner Leases" (cars used as courtesy loaners) coming off of mandatory (by car company) one year leases.  Those were discounted about $8-10k from original sticker.  This is apparently an "all cars" type of thing, as BMW and Lexus both had these deals at several dealerships.

As a Mortgage Banker, I know that certain Real Estate people view success based on your overall presentation. Dressing as a Professional, and your vehicle play an important part of that. In some areas of high priced homes, driving a non-luxury car can be an issue. That's a sad statement to make, but in my 47 years in this business, I can no longer count the times I heard Realtors and Borrowers make comments about how he/she dressed and the cars they drive. They both view success by #1..Your appearance,#2...your professionalism and #3 ...your vehicle. As for me, I am a car freak, who is also successful, so I drive "High End" cars. Lexus, Mercedes and presently Jaguar. Beware, the car issue can have a negative effect also,as one may feel that you don't need thier business, for it may only be a "small" deal. This is a tough call, but as someone who spent a year as a young Marine in Vietnam, I made a promise that if I ever made it home, as was going to go for the best in life I could afford.....

There a two cars in my garage. A2016 Audi Q5 3.0 and a 2012 Acura TL AWS. Both were great is the Chicago weather, but all wheel drive is not needed here in Tennessee, when it rains.. I've owed 68 cars so far, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagen, Subaru, Toyota, Pontiac, Ols, Ford, Dodge,Mercedes, and Nissan. My next car will be a 1972 Olds Cutlass 442 Convertible, or an old Porsche, My next new ca will be another Audi, the Q5, or the Allroad. You  can't beat the quality fit and finish and the Quattro system in the Audi. Yes, I buy new, and I'm told it is a waste of money, but so is my couch.

Great question for myself the purchase of an Infiniti Q60S Coupe was my choice of cars 6 speed manual shift. Beautiful ride and awesome on the get up and go power is what it has. The brand and the customer service is why I chose this car. Used is not my thing, why buy someone elses trouble. Put way to many miles on a car to lease one.

I've had the pleasure of owning several luxury and sports vehicles, but I plan to tone that down with a new Buick LaCrosse next year, I must be getting old!

And will be looking for a used, but mint condition Prius next year for the practicality of it, I must be getting very old now!

I love buying new, but wouldn't mind a quality used vehicle.
