Colorado and Texas require the most classroom hours.

AZ requires you be of 'good moral character' and I'd like to see the actual measuring stick for that. LOLLLL!

A few years back I probably would have know the answer as we were working to up the education requirments etc here in AZ.  Alas we got shot down, again which is, in my mind so crazy. Do do somebody's hair you go through 1500 hours of training. To help people with typically their biggest financila purchase - 90 hours and pass an easy test I always thought an apprenticeship made sense - kind of like appraisers.

Oregon has high standards and every new licensee is a Broker or Property Manager. It takes 3 years of practice before you can take the 40 hour course and past the next test to become a Principal Broker. Before the first renewal (up to 2 years after becoming licensed originally), the Advanced Practices 30 hour course needs to be past as well.

I think it needs to be tougher.  I think some type of one the job training- following an agent from start to finish on several transactions would be good. Some type of negotiation class, some type of "dealing with difficult People class"   I do believe it is very easy to get a license and still not know anything about anything.

I have no idea, Luke! I just know the two states in which I'm licensed and still don't think everyone gets enough education to do the job right!

I think where they fall down on requirements are with CE's - that's were so many of our local agents drop the ball - they take only the bare necessities and are not required to test after these classes. They spend the class texting and miss things that are critical to their jobs. It's so frustrating being on the other side of these agents - and it happens OFTEN!
