When I was younger it was a big home on a big lot, then it went to average home on big lot, then it went to big home (with caregiver apt) on a small lot. If I were to ever move again, it would be small home on no lot (condo).  LOL

So, my answer is... it changes over time.  

I like big lots, like lots of acreage.

Actually neither an dmaybe this is a result of age. I don't need a big home nor do I want to put the effort into cleaning it or paying large utility bills. Same goes for the lot.

RIght now in my current home i chose the average home on a big lot. I then renovated the home my way, added what i wanted and made it mine

I don't like a lot of yard work, but I also don't need a big home to maintain so I guess I would say neither. I prefer an average size house on a small lot.

With current land use laws in our city pushing higher and higher density, large lots are becoming scarce and are selling at a premium.  I like space.

I'll take the average home on the big lot. That said I live in a condo in the sky in downtown Chicago. A downsizing for sure and so much fun!

It really depends on the situation.  We both love the great outdoors, so a big lot is preferrable providing the lot has lots of trees and vegetation.  I remember looking at a home with a big lot that looked like a pasture, and it seemed so strange to us.  A

I grew up in big homes and would rather have a smaller home - less to maintain. On a large lot to keep the neighbors outta my beezwax.

I prefer a smaller lot - and a home that is just the right size!  I like to be able to have something that I can maintain myself if need be as far as the lot goes. As for the house - I am all about ENOUGH space; I don't need more space than I can manage but, the space I do have, I want it to be 'perfect!'

I prefer 100 acres with farmstead, or 100 acres of property listing wrapping around the country home. The realtor.com home portal, the Z and the T cover housing, but not much on the "lot". The land is in square feet not acreage which rural properties offer. So often the large land is hard to convey with the yes, no, maybe, number blanks to fill but not room for soil type, species of woods, etc.

For me, I would say an average home on a big lot (not talking acreage though!) Nathan Gesner.  For me, the 'secret' has always been the floorplan, not the square footage.

At this point in my life, I would take a small home big lot since the home is in my care, I don't want a big maintenance & cleaning task each week, but Peroni needs a big yard. But having had both in the past, I do enjoy my Townhome the most, we're in a great neighborhood and near lots of trails for Peroni...I'm done with single family homes for me, I keep them for my tenants now.

More land - Less house. I'd rather have a barn, shed, and/or workshop seperate from the house.

I prefer the smaller lot. I do not want to cut grass.

As I age, thinking smaller home, smaller lot with no maintenance but room for a garden.

My wife and I live on 2.5 acres, we build a 5 br home 26 years ago. We enjoy tropical fruit, avos and tropical flowers. Since then we built a 2br B&B, I am only ten minutes to my favorite surf spot.
