Obviously they loved JACK!!  If this was in their backyard, I would hope they would take it with them, and knowing me, would ask Bob "RealMan" Timm.  JACK won't matter to anyone else, the way he did to them . . .

Unless the new owners wanted to have a pet cemetery, I would at least take the stone. That is a heavy stone. Other option would be to topple the stone and bury it below the surface on top of Jack's grave. Or, transfer Jack and his gravestone to a local Pet Cemetery.

Ask: " Is Jack staying or going? Is Jack staying on property or going with the family?

I ask the same question if the property is haunted. "Is Uncle Jack's ghost staying in the house or leaving with the family?"

Unless the new buyers have a dog named Jack as well, who also passed away, I'm thinking they aren't going to want a pet gravestone on their lawn. But that would be a sensitive discussion to have!
