I have been getting a similar warning from Thunderbird for the past year, Mandrilla seems to be some sort of app that AR uses to handle their notifications.

I do not know.
I guess a query regarding Mandrill is merited.
And here is what I found:
Mandrill is a transactional email service used to deliver welcome emails, password reset emails and other one-to-one emails.
It looks like Active Rain is using Mandrill to deliver all their transactional emails.
http://mandrillapp.com is the actual account from where Mandrill customers can setup the service and review reports.
You shouldn't worry about seeing Mandrill in your emails because they are a genuine company and they won't send you spam. Sometimes their customers will try to spam other people, but they usually close accounts as soon as that happens.
Now we know.

I haven't seen that warning; perhaps it is from your security settings

This is a new one on me, but sounds scary. Just don't click on anything.

Probably because ActiveRain uses an email forwarding address in its header. Nothing to be concerned about. You should be able to mark this as trusted somewhere in your email program.

Sharon Tara - well, I have no notifications for many days - and after reading your question, I think it's better not to have them...

I have shut off email notifications from ActiveRain. I will just have to rely on my Home Page for notifications.

Mailchimp (who owns Mandrillapp) is up to something, or maybe they got hacked. I would delete without opening.

I have not been receiving them or any notifications. Happy to read some of the answers though

To be honst I don't understand techy stuff, I have one client right now whose email keeps going into spam and I keep taking it out and have marked him as a safe sender and still I find his emails hiding in the spam box. We now text each other to let the other know we have emailed. I have seen mandrilla from other sources but not AR.

I've seen that before & then it corrects itself. Maybe AR's email has been hacked.
