Lots of people relocating come into town specifically to look at homes over long weekends. Then again they also generally have an agent they are working with that can just schedule a showing. I bet people will be out looking though. -Kasey

We have lots of buyers in town during Memorial Day weekend. It is a great time to host open houses.

I think buyers are always out there and sometimes a holiday weekend gives the serious ones more time to focus on their search.  I also know that I won't be spending any time this weekend or any other hosting an open house. ;)

Now is a great time for open houses, , , ,  local and out of town buyers are looking to move before school starts. . . . . 

I'm doing one - might even fire up the grill!

Yes, I would do an Open House over the Holiday Weekend, though probably not on Memorial Day Monday Will Hamm.  Since most folks will have a 3-day weekend, I know there will be time for errands, running around, having cook-outs, parades, etc., so people will be out-and-about. 

Give it a try if you are willing to make the investment.

I don't do open houses.

I don't do them but I think it would be worth it. Many use it as an opportunity to get important things done.

I will not being doing any. I do think many people will be away. Now if you are in one of the areas that people are flocking to, then i would have one,

Will, I live in Wine Country, which typically gets lots of out-of-town visitors on weekends. The long weekends seem to draw tire kickers. So, I avoid them for open houses in general. And because Memorial Day weekend coincides with a huge music event, I wouldn't do one on Memorial Day for sure. You can barely get through some parts of town. That said, a fellow agent here is hosting an open house Thursday before the holiday from 4 to 7 p.m. I'm going to go and see how the traffic is. I think he could be on to something --- plus his listing is across town from the concert venue. I hope you will post if you host and tell us how it went. Same for everyone who has commented here: if you host, please let us know how it went. I think this is a very interesting topic and I don't know if there is one right answer.

This year I've heard of more buyers being in town than ever before on Memorial Day weekend. So, I would definitely host one if I were you, Will Hamm!
