If it's on the internet it must be true, right?

In addition to them telling me what they want me to sell/read, they add in paid for positions that most often have nothing to do with what i asked it. I would prefer unedited and commerical free answers

It's a mixed bag, but people believe what they read on the Internet

I am a Google search pro. For certain subjects that matter, I prefer to use more than one search engine because I know they can all contain various bias.

I think this definitely depends on what you're searching for.
"Who is the worst President in history" will give you what you're looking for. "What is the capital of New Jersey" will give you the answer.

If I am told I am right I still question it. If told I am right more than once I believe it.

Use private browsing, duck duck go, startpage or any of the other search engines that don't track user data if you're that concerned. When I check my google rankings, I use private browsing mode so that my website info/G+/Youtubes don't get artificially boosted.

#3 for me but, as others have said, I don't just go on what I read in one spot - you simply cannot trust that humans won't make errors!!

Annette,
Our expert who was the one who introduced Google to real estate has often emphasized that Google wants to determine the intent of the search. Yes, they do try to tailor based on previous searches, which annoys me to no end. Then, if I were to have the same query when I am in Florida on our client's computer, I would get a different answer than when I am home on ours. It also is based on the geographical location, ad to what the search will come up with. Their ultimate purpose is to serve their advertisers, and get you to the pages that have ads on them. The old adage, "follow the money!" rules. They have to answer to their stockholders. A

I was out showing homes yesterday for 5 hours with clients. I kept getting all this information from them. I asked .... where did you get that information. I read it on the Internet. It then became my job to clear up the confusion and misinformation from all of that "data" or as we've come to know it ... "fake" information or news.

Some information on the internet can be shady. It is best to do all the research possible to see conflicting data.

I will go with the first option, and if not there then I will continue to search further.

I've always been the worst at googling. My husband and I can both google the same topic and I can't find answers and he can. I always thought it was just me, but maybe google is messing with me. -Kasey

What is needed is points of view or perspectives to get whole, real answers

Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 You get what you pay for. That's why it is free. They are always changing their algorithms not in the consumers interests, but in their advertisers interests. Number 3!

I believe #3 can be done in incognito mode.
I think it has come a long way from just typing in a word & having it wing some answers in the start of the internet. I've typed in sentences & gotten exactly what I wanted.
Will not get the opposite of what you want because you didn't ask even though that might be the better answer or path.
