When done correctly this is a great way to regenerate a forest, but it generally requires full sunlight, ie a clearcut.

It is cutting down of trees or shrubs to near the ground level to stimulate new growth. I do that with my shrubs to keep them in check.

    it is a pruning technique where a tree or shrub is cut to ground level,which is supposed to regenerate new stems from the base.   Done more commonly on on old shrubs.
