I joined for the business opportunities and stayed for the networking, education and learned it could also be fun along the way due to the relationships that were found(a total surprise for me).

There are many reasons each person may have for staying active in the Rain. For me, I just love the chance to read other agent's blogs, and to learn from the many encounters we get by responding as well the the knowledge I gain and challenges I receive from other's in my profession. In addition, for some it's all about SEO and Referrals. Others it's about points and moving up the ladder to reach the highest rung on the ladder that is possible for each individual. Others like the contests and other great opportunities -- to share personal stories, professional concerns, experiences and oh the list just goes on and on. Hope some of this has given you the umpf to set yourself some goals.

In no particular order: Making connections all over the Country. Receiving referrals. Having a face I recognize to send referrals to. Advice from other experienced agents.

My objective and goals should not be the basis on which you set yours. If you are goal oriented, as you say, you need to think about your own priorities and set goals around them.

Karen,
We all have our own way of assessing what works for us. Your goals are yours and my reasons for being here have nothing to do with your reasons, simply because we are each unique individuals with a unique focus and definitely differing core values. In my opinion, you have to discover it for yourself. A

Business, plain & simple. I love the relationships here, but if it didn't translate to business, I wouldn't spend so mcuh time here. My phone rings regularly with people who found me through my blog, and other time from agents in the rain who have clients that can use my help. I've picked up 2 new clients this week from the same blog post I wrote back in 2014. This is an amazing place!

I look at it like this, my goal to join Active Rain was to get more customers. I was not sue what to expect. WHAT I GOT was a community who welcomed me with open arms, in a nice way gave me tips to improve my blog and my writing. I was able to not just learn new things but made friends, relationships and acquaintances which i speak with those same people near every day 7 years later. My tips are write a blog daily, read other blogs and comment on at least 10 a day. Be open to learn, share, teach and entertain. The only goal that let me down was thinking i would get more features. For a while i was a feature machine, which then hurts when the feature gods shun you for months on end. My advice on features is do not focus on them, focus on the results from your blog as you will drive yourself nuts if you focus on features.

A few reasons I'm here.. Education and knowledge from members. Hanging out as an active member raises my awareness to a variety of issues in our field from different people. Looking forward to the seo benefits. Earning points - pushing myself to reach monthly goals. There is always something new to learn. Don't really have goals - I enjoy being here.

I started so I could ask some basic questions about best practices/tech people were using (I was starting up a newsletter system for past clients and also looking into mass mailing). Enjoyed the Q&A section so much I became a paying member, started blogging and set a goal for the 500,000 point free account. Along the way becoming #1 in my city and county were intermediate goals along the way to 500k (hit those by 178k). Once I hit that, getting to page 1 in the state (top 50) was the goal. Now I'm #47 in the state and aiming for the top 40.

the Google Juice, first and foremost.... secondly, I love the networking.....the rest is learning and sharing....I like both of those, too....

I am with Michael Jacobs - all of that and more. The relationships created here cannot be explained. It is good for business, referrals from other agents, learning, fun .... the list goes on and on.
That said, you need to find your own reasons to be active.

the points reflect my consistency - and consistency results in buyer leads and listing leads. That is of course what keeps me in the rain - and it works - but the points are the day to day track of that.
