Not afraid... but as I hate receving them, I don't make them. I'm a big believer in treating others as I like to be treated.

Nope, I used to do them when I was desperate and ignorant i.e. new to the business. No matter what anyone says, they steal your joy eventually and working by referral is so much sweeter. I have not had to make a cold call in over 15 years, it's why I still have a soul.

"Oh God! Someone might say "BOO" and I'll have a breakdown and my self-esteem will be shattered and I have to run to momma for comfort!"

The question that really needs to be asked is, "Are cold calls profitable for a real estate agent?"

The answer to that is an overwhelming YES! However, profitable, has many measures directly related to intent.

Another question that may be asked is "Are responses regarding such a question simply efforts of avoiding shame?"

OF course none of us are AFRAID to make cold calls. Most don't see the point of doing so for them and have developed alternative methods.

Those who have been in business 6 years or longer derive 70% of their business from referrals. They long ago forgot how they got started.

No, just don't like it.  Did it a long time ago and didn't care for it.  Prefer other forms of marketing.

I don't like to make cold calls, however, I will sometimes call an agent or an office manager to introduce myself.   I usually do this a day or two after I have dropped off flyers and cards along with treats of some sort at the office.  I never take more than a few minutes of their time-and I don't "sell" my services.  I just let them know I am available if they want to discuss staging and I let them know I am willing to answer any questions they have.   Short, sweet and not obtrusive!
