the day before one of my builders was to close on a large parcel of land and the market was just beginning on its downward trend.... I told the builder to NOT CLOSE and walk away from the deposit and all of the engineering costs.... he did what I said and within weeks, the market really began to TANK.... he would not have sold one home at the previous price....

that was a day I'll never forget and neither will the builder who was soooo appreciative.... 

Have had many! One that comes to mind is when a large member of a national franchise decided, unannounced, to close the office immediately!

9/11/2001.  Our brokerage had a weekly sales meeting on Tuesdays.  Everyone at the office was in a daze.  Needless to say we did not have our meeting that day.

Most most odd day??? DEFINE NORMAL?!? 

Probably when a seller refused to sign a contract because Mercury was in retrograde.

Your's is quite a story. We showed, on the same day, 2 different condo communities with the same name (one on the North Shore & one on the South Shore - and the funny thing was the wives had the same first name too...Amy and Ami!

Best odd day I had. I was moving cattle dad was at the office had a long time client call and want to put in an offer on a house. Called Dad he wrote it up. Two hours later listing agent called the seller of first house was putting in an offer on my listing across town. Same price and same close dates.

I have been playing this game for a long time, so many odd days.  But most of the involve a long story that will not fit into this little box.

Sometimes I feel as if everyday I spend in this business is an odd day... but really haven't given it much thought.

Too many to recount.

"My agent told me it's a holiday and I should not come to look at condos (President's day) - can you show me any condos?"

"Yes, if you are willing to work with me I will get you in plenty".

Wrote 2 cash accepted offers for the same customer that day on 2 condos - total sale = $1.3 million

What a loss for that agent and a great day for me!

Feels like every day is an odd day, but your day is kind of a fun day, not odd:) 

A couple years ago..on the closing day buyer's wife didn't want to sign because they had an argument that morning, thankfully they worked it out and we were able to close.

Well that is kind of odd Corrine!  Can't say I've had a day like yours. Probably the oddest for me was back a few years ago in our crazy down market.  I listed a couple of properties and had about 30 or so offers within a day on them. One offer came in signed and initialed - but everything else was blank. Empty offer.  Very odd. I guess they wanted us to fill it whatever the seller wanted!!

My most off day was closing an estate sale with 8 heirs, all there, all outspoken and all wanting something different their siblings

Corinne - Wow, that is a little odd. The oddest day I had was when I thought I was working with a couple to buy a home, only to find out that their father was the one with the money, and he didn't even know his kids were looking for a home. Needless to say, the relationship between me an my clients ended rather abruptly.

I can think of a lot but my worst day was when I fired one agent, another quit, and the third left to give birth to twins. I lost everybody at once!

I can't think of one odd day, but we have several times ended up working with clients with the same (sometimes strange) first or last name at the same time or having a listing on the same street in a different location at the same time.  I always think it's odd. -Kasey

Oh boy, crawling & I mean crawling under a house because the Town insisted the water meter read was there (which it was not & seller out of state) plus with the same sellers...listening to an 8 track tape of the 'Garden of Vida' before one seller would sign the sales agreement!  Everything seems small compared to this one.
