This is the first time I've seen NAR and Innovation in the same paragraph!  LOL.

The innovators are the people with the new shiny gadgets, like matterport, that offer to separate agents from their money or the ones that try to "disrupt" the industry by selling us back our leads and making us think this is a wonderful idea!

Between the ears seems to be the main area of innovation.

My best information comes from outside the real estate industry.

Locally, not at NAR

NAR and innovation have not been on the same path for years. Same with Coldwell Banker and many others! A bit of avoid right now

It is in the trenches of the hard working agents. NAR has not looked out for us since they sold Realtor.com.  It is not the franchies buying up the little guys. Those techical new web sites are about their profit, not ours. So the closest to the heart beat of this indusrty is those working the hardest. 

I think the real estate model is changing tremendously with technology. Gone or going away are the models where everyone has to have a desk and you meet clients in the office for all your paperwork. DocuSign, cloud storage, Z and T, the internet, websites, all have changed the model. Now, I see less emphasis on franchise and more on the team and the brokerage which does all creative marketing in house and works for their agents so the agents see the benefit of the brokerage.

I find plenty of innovators here on ActiveRain to follow.  I also let the Council of Residential Specialists (CRS) filter things out for me.

Real Estate has always been several generations or more behind on nearly everything.. I would guess right now most of the innovation is still running somewhere around 2000

It can be anywhere.
