I pick them up only if they are heads up.

I pick any coin up if I notice it, but I rarely see any. 

 I leave them on the ground for some poor person.

I read a blog post the day about this very thing . . .

PS  I never seem to find coins anymore as almost everyone uses debit cards and they outlawed our pennies!

I find this interesting because whereever I go I pick up any change I find. My momma taught me that pennies make dollars.  However my children would walk past it.  I failed them somehow.

You can't buy much with change these days but still if you stash it in a safe place it accumulates and will certainly come in handy for something unexpected.  

If it's on the floor of a public bathroom, I won't pick it up!

Probably means we use credit cards even for small purchases, like a cup of coffee.

I don't see many coins on the ground. I think that in Naples, where most people are retired, that they can't bend over to pick them up. J/K

I still pick up pennies.  Habit since I was a kid and you could actually buy something with it.

I found a nickel on the ground today and feel like more and more people don't want to bend over for such a small amount. Even my grandson was trying to negotiate for a $20 bill from the tooth fairy. Coins don't have the meaning they used to.

We live in a wasteful society, much more valuable things are discarded daily.

It just means that someone dropped a dime on their homey!  Darn rats!

I'd guess that you're in a moderately upscale area.  I'm still looking for the area where gold kuggerants or c-notes are dropped and no one cares.

I think it's laziness.... I haven't found dimes, but I have found nickels and pennies....and this not so fat butt bends and picks up every one on the ground.....  I'm waiting to find a 1955 double imprint penny.....

I pick up all coins.  Pennies are from heaven.  I'll have to think about where those dimes come from and why people don't pick them up.  I love finding money. It is a sign of good things .... at least in my world.

I found a $20 on the ground not long ago.  Looked around for the money tree, didn't find the tree or anymore $20's so chalked it up to luck.

I don't know that it says anything about your town - some people pick up coins, believing they mean something, others don't!

Funnily enough I picked up a dime and some pennies the other day when I was out showing a home and on the way back to my car. I almost left them them there, as my client was just a few feet away getting into his car and I thought I might look like an idiot.  Then I remembered my mother saying it brings good luck to pick pennies up, so I picked them up regardless of what he thought... That's my mother for you. Long gone and still having an impact on my day to day decisions.  :)

I am funny, I pick up pennies.

I'd pick up a dime!  I tried to pick up a penny the other day and it seemed to be stuck to the cement.  I didn't keep trying, as it was in front of a home that is known for (and advertises) that they have cameras.  I didn't want to be on candid camera, so I quit. Lol. -Kasey

Hella -- as I read your post and perhaps due to the Oscars last night...the movie "Pennies From Heaven" came to mind.   Finding any coins(or more) is likely easier than looking for them growing on trees.

The fun of picking up a coin off the ground or receiving back change from a purchase is to look at the date and see what you have.  If that was a pre-1965 dime it was actually worth about $1.33 with today's silver prices.  Always fun to check.  

I, too, will stoop for pennies. I wet my pants when I find anything larger!
