How many answers saying "It depends" do you want to bet you get? 

So are you saying that people who say "it depends" should not be able to say "it depends?" Sometimes the questions are so broad and undefined, the answer is absolutely "it depends." 

And sometimes the Questions are so, um, not intelligent, that "it depends" is an awesome answer!

It depends can mean it is not clearly one way or another and circumstances can change. I am not a fan of the one and two word answers if that is what you are meaning.

I agree, there's a lot of NON ANSWERS in the Q&A from people that just want their points. It truly reflects on them though, I'd never refer them.

If it just says "depends" it should be banned. If it says "depends" and then outlines all things it depends on and why, then that is ok by me

I agree, steve weiser but, as Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor, CRS mentioned, everyone isn't here for the learning or to offer assistance!

In defense of the 'it depends' answers - sometimes the question is not perfectly clear and oftentimes it DOES depend upon the circumstances outlined in the question!

Some real estate, and other questions, really have "it depends"  answers. If there is an explanation why not?

Then what about all the NO and YES only answers to questions? Should a minimum number of words be required?

The problem, Steve, is that in many cases that is the correct response because so many questions are posed in such a way that without more information one can only say "it depends." I've found that in our business a lot does "depend" on specific situations.

In the past we've had people complain about yes and no answers, but that's just how some questions are posed... and they don't necessarily call for more than a yes or no response.

Do not take it personally.

Steve we are Politicians & mean Realtors, so "it depends" if we want to take an honest stand on a subject well you know either you are for or against something but you can not say it:)))Endre

If I reply with , "it depends" it's usually defined by why. 

Each market is different and has many nuances. We are here to learn from others and sometimes "it depends" is the right answer.

I don't see our business as black and white. There are so many variables that one answer does not fit all scenarios. I believe Q & A allows us to think outside the box.

Sometimes we need more details in that question to answer!

I had to rephrase some questions when I saw a few answers that almost said - 'it depends'.

Many questions do not have enough information in order to provide a comprehensive answer.  Hence, it depends.

I don't mind as long as they clarify the various options available. Just saying, "It depends" does nothing for anyone. I think the Q&A section would be much, much different if points were not involved.

Well Steve, it depends on the nature of the question.  So many of them do depend on many variables.

If you substantiate you answer of "it dpeends" on what it would depend upon, then I would say that is acceptable..

I'm with Kat Palmiotti on this one. If you don't want a broad answer, then make the question very specific. 

It depends, if the questions are not clear what would you prefer?

There are so many answers where there are so many variables that "it depends" really is the only answer without more information. -Kasey

It depends.  Some questions require an "it depends" answer because of decision gates that must be traversed to reach the appropriate path for the situation.

Now, like this answer, the "it depends" should elaborate as to what it depends on, at the very list the begining of the flow chart with the first one or two decision gates.  Just a two word answer though, unless to anonymous student questions, should not be used.

It depends, consult your attorney, consult your accountant and talk to a professional are the escape hatches embedded in real estate agent communications.

Remove those phrases and what remains is a mime production.

However, if this industry was easily addressed with yes and no, left or right, up or down, those with the skill and agility to address the complications that are presented by the life situations of other would be unnecessary.

I prefer presenting actionable responses .....appended with YMMV.

It depends. Many times that is followed by an explanation of what it depends on.

Accept the fact that this is a points driven section. Any answer works.
