My State Farm agent got her mortgage through State Farm. It was a conventional program and went smoothly but she had a definite advantage. She owned her agency.

Too funny but, I had the same experience with our State Farm guy - and all went well but, he does own his own agency too! I haven't had another one outside of that one.

I just got a new client last night and they are using State Farm to get their mortgage. It's a new service in our area, so I cannot say how smoothly it will work out. I am interested to see how well it works.

My local State Farm broker does mortgages now... but before he became an insurance broker and purchased his agency he was a mortgage broker... so for the right client I would totally trust him to do a mortgage as he's very knowledgeable. But I wouldn't go to State Farm for the sake of using them.

I've only thought of State Farm as an insurance company. I didn't realize they did mortgages, too!

I have worked on some of their REO, but never had a buyer get a mortgage through them. I always assumed they bought mortgages on the secondary market,

No. I think of Insurance when i hear State Farm. I don't recall seeing any local State Farm agents promoting mortgages in their advertising.

Haven't any experience with SF for mortgages and would assume that SF is expecting additional perks with getting the insurance policy on the home.

So far, what I'm seeing for answers is that not everyone has heard of this, but some have experienced mortgages with State Farm. Agents in these states have experienced mortgages: Tennessee, Missouri, North Carolina, Illinois, Arizona, and an agent in New Hampshire has worked on their REOs.
Their corporate HQ is here in the Phoenix area so I'm sure they are getting their own loans through State Farm here.
They don't appear to be advertising, but may have been offering this for a while. It makes me wonder if they have full time mortgages brokers or who is offering the loans. I'm about to go through this so will post a blog after the fact. My buyer client tells me he's being offered a flat fee of $450 versus $5,000 in fees from another lender. And this is for a $550,000 loan.

I haven't heard of it. Will need to call my local state farm agent and find out if it is a national program.

I have State Farm & they push it all the time. Me personally, wouldn't give them a 2nd thought. I'm sure the buyer can do better elsewhere but that's not my decision.
