That completely depends on the style of home and decor.
I personally like the lever style, but I've owned 1920's homes where the old glass (round) geometric handles were called for.

For me it depends more on the need of the owner: an aging population needs the lever door handle.

I am a lever guy. Every door in my home has them. There is a price range for any style home, that shouldn't matter.

On exterior doors, I prefer knobs but like levers inside the house. I have learned (the hard way) that my 18 month old grandson can open doors with levers!

many times I have approached a round knob with hands full and it challenges my open whereas the lever requires my elbow. Looks good too!

Going along with the age thing... with small children around, round knob. For the aging population, lever. And, when I broke my arm, I couldn't even turn a round door knob.
Aesthetically, it depends on the home design and trim package.

After developing arthritis in my thumbs, I got a whole new appreciation for lever style door knobs. Higher end homes in my market are lever style inside and out. But when I lived in coops that were built in the 19Century or pre-WWII, it was always antique style or glass door knobs... more suitable for the property.

Hi Fred - It's weird to realize that in all of my years - and there's a lot of them - I've never thought about doorknobs. I wouldn't want to break that streak : )

From a real estate broker's perspective, the lever is tough to get a lock box on in a condo if you want to have it on the door. On the ADA compliant lever one, I ended up putting on a padlock with a long shackle, then attached the Sentrilock on it. Good thing about that, I could also put a combo lock on there. Still, it was awkward. PS. I used to have a cat that could open the bathroom door that had a knob; a lever would have been even easier. Just sayin'.

Fred,
It really depends on the architectural style of the home. The lever style was designed to facilitate easier opening of doors.

We have levers on all our interior doors and I couldn't have managed without them when I had surgery on both my right shoulder and right hand a few years ago. Our front door has a round knob since we are in a condo and that is what they require.

I encountered a client last autumn who hated lever handles. She said she had caught her sleeve on a lever and tore her dress. So even though it's an advantage for some, it is possible for the lever to be considered a hazard.

Hi Fred -- For me it's going to depend on the architecture and design of the property. I will be more limited in my choice for the exterior since I live in a condo with rules and it appears every unit in our building has a similar style. Obviously inside I have more choices and I'm actually thinking of some updates in this department -- I'll likely go with the lever style when the moment happens.

The choice of a knob is totally based on the need and use. Older people do better with handles. But a handle in an historic home is out of place.

Neither for a front door. I want something more substantial there. I have the lever sytle in the rest of my house, inside and the back of the house. Much easier to use when your hands are full.

Everything matters.
Especially the needs of the occupant.
No one rejects Universal Design, while some need a home compliant with Universal Design for their aging in place objectives.
The Supra is more suited for one design while the others creates an inventory loss situation.
