No. Let them do their thing to enjoy the final Christmas in their home.

I would much rather see them put the house on the market in January

I actually encourage my sellers to make their house look like a Postcard ... something that will invite the buyers in so they can see what their house "could" look like during the holidays. Works for me.

If a home is for sale, yes, keep the decor to a minimum so the potential buyers can SEE the home.

No. It's still their home, and they can celebrate whatever Christmas traditions they want to.

Oh yes. I remind for all decorating holidays, Christmas, Easter & Halloween that buyers need to see the house and I recommend that they don't decorate at all.

Let them do what they want as long as all rooms are viewable and halls passable!

I advise putting up what you know you can take down in a hurry along with packing your stuff.
I've even provided the five foot wreath for placement on the side of the house as a substitute for their Griswald intention.
For the right style house the single candle in the windows, small wreath on front door, is all that is needed.

I do not, but do tell sellers what to expect when list their home or have their home listed during Christmas

It depends on the client. Some do not need a reason to be "over the top" regardless of the season.

No, I have never done that, and most homes here in our niche (age-restricted community) do minimal decorating Bob "RealMan" Timm. Either they are not back in town until after the Holidays (the snowbirds), they cannot physically do much and don't hire someone else to do their decorating, or they do not celebrate Christmas. Now us, on the other hand, do the tiny white lights, have the inside and outside Christmas trees also with lights, and do celebrate in that manner. I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

It's not an issue for me right now but I have had discussions in the past. In general, avoiding the clutter is smart, with holiday decorations being no different than daily life stuff. Not everyone celebrates Christmas so be mindful of that, too!

Staging should be extremely important for all sellers, regardless of the season. If they can't "help themselves," perhaps waiting until after the holiday to list?
