No but that is bad. It is how so many people became upside down borrowing equity for material goods such as cars and boats and we know the rest of that story.

That is why so many people lost their homes 2007-2011 because they used their home as a bank.

I haven't seen it, but I hate the whole idea. We had so many short sales because people used their homes as piggy banks for the wrong reasons some years back.

Based on history, they KNOW this is a gateway drug that will lead to incredible profit from fees and penalties all banks depend on. This is TARGETING homeowners who lack fiscal discipline...THEIR PREFERRED and PERFECT CLIENT.

Those ads, in my opinion, are designed to appeal most strongly to those of later age who may no longer be weighing their decisions properly, and can't quite think things through.  The vulnerable elderly are probably their "best" customers! 

I've missed this ad, but yikes!  Your house is a savings account!  And withdrawals should not be done lightly.

I have not seen it.  The home is the bank's bank.  It is a great message for the banks ... not for consumers.  

Let's do it again and take all equity out of your houses. Sounds too familiar....

I do investment real estate but a personal home is somewhat of an investment since you put out money for it, but to treat it like the bank got a lot of people in trouble in the bubble years.

I have not seen that commercial.

      Lots of people used their home for their bank in the mid 2000's... many of them were foreclosed upon.

They must not be in my area but here we go again with a bad idea. House = ATM

I think it's dangerous. 

I think for their business it is an attention getter. I don't like the message it conveys to encourage people to borrow money when they may not need to.

Using your home as a bank has had this country in real estate slumps more than a couple of times in the last 40 years!

Working on a case the owner bought a home for $230K back decades ago. They owe the bank a total $978,000.... Have not paid a mortgage in 10 years because of taking out or refin.
