Instead of over the river and through the woods, I'll be traveling via freeway to get to my Thanksgiving destination.   

Last Thanksgiving, we tried the restaurant idea and I have to say, we were all disappointed.  We rarely can find meals as fine as we can prepare them and they're usually 10X the price too.  Most of my family are foodies and love to have me surprise them with something unique each holiday.  I'll be cooking for Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas (Boxing Day this year) when our families can get together but not yet sure of the menu!

I go to a buffet with a WIDE variety of foods.  Almost never do turkey for thanksgiving.  Ribs, BBQ, prime rib, sushi, pasta bar... YUMMY!!!

I cooked for years also, but for the last two, I am having dinner with my parents in their retirement home.  The food is fabulous - plus I don't have to do dishes afterwards!

I eat out at the home of friends. Can't remember the last time I cooked on Thanksgiving.

I love to cook for everyone....this year others are and I'm just eating....1:00pm with one family and 6:00pm with another one at Davio's at Patriot's Place....

Before my husband passed, I cooked every holiday for the family.  I loved it. Now, I go to their homes.  I still take a special recipe or two that the family enjoyed.

Six mile run starts T-day off right.

Turkey, taters, edemame, stuffing, cranberry chuteny, wine and music prime the pump for early dinner with Mom. Then its off to Beacon Street where 'thanksgiving' turns from gratefulness to action. This is one of those times where the act of ones hand has a profound effect that words can not reach. Each person touched, touches me in return.

My husband has cooked our Turkey day for 24 out of 26 years - this being the 2nd time he didn't.

Now he wants to retire is Turkey day cooking - Oh no, what will we do LOL

My wife gets great enjoyment preparing all of this.

It is awesome if you like that, we do it also but we are to the point that letting someone else do it would be fine.

It depends on the particular year.

I usually cook, but today I was a cooked for guest.  It was wonderful.

   Our "family tradition":

     Some years ago, my grandmother literally wore herself out in the kitchen, while the family relaxed in the living room.  My wife and I told Grandma, "next year we are going to a restaurant". 

     That started a long-standing tradition... some years we travel to the other side of Florida and eat at a swank hotel, other years we stay here in Tallahassee and enjoy an early lunch at A La Provence or Wakulla Springs Lodge.   Later in the afternoon we go to our cousins' house (they live on acreage) and eat some more.

I used to cook a lot. My cooking days are, for the most part, behind me. I rarely eat out.  

This year, I give my wife a break after decades of duty and will BBQ ribeye steaks slightly charred and expertly broiled with juice & flavor that only love can produce. One more thing. I eat well all year long needing no holidays to spur me on

My wife enjoys preparing the holiday meal. Today, my son and dauyghter-in-law will join us for the first time on over 10 years. Mom is definitely excited!

Have had years we ate out most years cooked or invited for dinner... never had a catered thanksgiving though.

I fried 3 turkeys this year. 

Either I do the spread or go to friends' homes.

It is my second Thanksgiving I cook all food myself. No more pre-cooked food in my house. Got to eat and feed my family and friends healthy. 

I love to cook to much and love doing holidays meals for friends.
