Jeff,

In CA it is often a felony charge.  You cannot have a felony charge on your record if you want a real estate license.  A

I'm sure it's a state by state issue, Jeff. I know about what as a broker I need to disclose or not about sex offenders and how close they can live to a school. But as for licensing, I have no idea. I believe they are considered felons and that could make it very hard in most states to get a license.

People with felony convictions have to go before the real estate commission in person in TN and then the commission decides. I don't know of any that have received a license.

How absolutely horrid!  Wonder if he got his license prior to anything being checked and the State missed rechecking status on each renewal?  Quite frightening.

Ohio says no crimes of "moral turpitude" sa that would be an issue. If you did get licensed, could you show homes near a school?

In Oklahoma no one with afelony can automatically get a license. it has to be disclosed upfront and a hearing is done. In some cases they can, but this would be a turn down.

As Richie Alan Naggar stated in very few words, even felons can get licensed since the requirements are subjective at the interpretation, on a case by case basis, by the states professional licensing boards.

A indiscretion forty years ago can blemish an otherwise stellar legacy of good and responsible citizenship. I can imagine the disclosure issues involved. However, that is what one would call a niche market.

People change.

Some can be radicalized in less the 30 days.

Within 17 hours everyone in the study CONFESSED to a crime they could not have committed.

Ask Brian Williams. Started out with integrity then he changed.

Apparently at least one did... Most states probably don't do background checks, for example CT, but Florida requires fingerprints and background checks, which is a good thing.
