I have had this problem before as well and use a mac. I deleted the picture from active rain, went back into the picture on the mac, rotated it a few times, saved it, then went back into active rain and uploaded it again. It was fine after that. It is annoying when that happens but that was a quick fix for me.

Take your photographs in the landscape mode. I then use iPiccy.com to edit the photographs.

I thought people only had this problem on Apple devices. Others gave good advice how to fix but we don't know really why.

That happens when using an iPhone or iPad camera. I can correct this by rotating the image one turn then uploading

When I have encountered this, I found to be be an issue with the 'viewer' in use was rotating the image. The original image was 90 degrees off.. To resolve, I used the pict editor found in the WIN OS. Using only the rotate feature.
Done correctly, your observable will be the original 'viewer' will show the image incorrectly.
Be aware, there could be some elf'n magic taking place in AR. If that is the case, all bets are OFF.

Always take your photos in landscape mode. They work better on most devices and look better on blog posts, and websites, etc. If you take your portrait images and upload them to youtube creative to turn them into a video you are going to get those black sections on both sides of the image in the video. That won't happen with landscape in most cases. Before you take a photo, think about all the content creation you will be doing with one photo. It has a long life with loads of tactics.. again, landscape mode will work the best across all those platforms.

I used to have some issues with this too, until I edited the photo. You can use Ribbet too.

Kathryn Acciari - If that happens to me, I use an external editor and save 'straight' image as some other name and upload.
Yes, this is frustrating at times, and I really understand that.

Perhaps you can edit the rotation flag so it won't rotate.

Open it in an editing program like Paint, do a saveas, then load it into AR and it should work

Wow, thank you, all. So many ideas to try, and great appreciation for Roy Kelley. I look forward to applying Roy's and others' suggestions.
BTW, I am using a PC, not an Apple product.
