no one hires anyone without interviewing at least one more agent....let that agent be me so you will know what you should be getting from your friend... and if the friend does not do that marketing, he/she can add it to your marketing program....

and speaking of programs, I will share mine with you and you can share it with your friend.... interviewing me will be of great advantage to your friend....

(the main purpose of any phone conversation is to close for an appointment...not closing for a listing!!)

so, would you like to meet tomorrow at 1:00pm or is 2:00pm better?

Chances are the family friend is going to get the listing if they do list. But  Richard Weeks raises a really good point, especially if things don't work out.

"Would you cooperate with selling agents?" Get your foot in the dor. Next question should be, "May I make an appointment with you to visit your home to see if it might fit the needs on one of my many buyers?" It is all about personal contact and getting the FSBO sellers to think twice about you

I will not disparage the agent. I will however suggest that they see what I can offer and if it is right for their home selling situation.

I would wonder why they didn't originally go with their 'family/friend realtor' to begin with, though I would not ask that question Iva Sarnova!  I would wish them Good Luck on a quick home sale - and let it go at that.  I'm wondering if they think they know more than their realtor/family/friend, and that is why they are a FSBO, or there is no realtor/family friend.

There are many great responses here.  I would ask what that family broker friend is doing to help them sell FSBO?  If not, why not?  If they are not helping ... then I would offer to help.
