One of my vacant listings was scammed on Craigslist as a rental.

One of my Sellers got scammed by a Buyer posing as a Realtor.  Discovered it was identity fraud and it cost them many thousand before we found another Buyer.

In 2007 one of my listings was the unwitting subject of a scam. Someone posing as a property manager collected a deposit from some poor person and told them to come to my office to get keys. The home was never listed for rent. And the owner and I had no knowledge of it. This gal had a rental agreement and everything. We called cops. I'm not sure if she ever was able to recover her deposit.

Thankfully I have not and I know of no clients who have. The most common scmas I have heard about come from rental listings on Craigslist

I met someone who mailed the security deposit to the Christian fellowship missionaries who were leaving the country and wanted to rent their home for a really low price to a good person.....

Friends of mine were scammed with the Craigslist rental scam. What gets me is that these are very savvy, intelligent people but they are so embarrassed for getting "had", they don't make a big issue of it. That could be a problem with a lot of scams, people don't speak up when they have been targeted!

One of our clients wasn't scammed, but their bank account was hacked and the bank didn't cover the loss.

No and I hope to keep it that way. I recently took two classes that talked about protecting your clients. 

Several have in the craiglist home for rent scam.  Very frustrating to deal with Craigslist and try to have this removed

No, but I do know of people who have been.

The scams i see most often are homes for sale being offered at a much lower rental price online and unsispecting buyers rent a home not for rent not from the owner

We've had a few craigs list spams......not pretty and not fun.

I've had rental listings of mine hijacked from Zillow and reposted on Craigslist.  That's the extent.  Thankfully no wire fraud (knock on wood).

I have heard of many... but never knew anyone personally in a real estate related transaction.  I do know two elderly couples very well who were scammed out of their life savings.  The terrible part is, I knew it was happening and tried desperately to talk them out of it but they were totally succked in by the scammers. Now they are living off a pittance.  It toally pi$$es me off and makes me physically sick.

Not yet, though there have been many attempts. We are ALWAYS on guard!

I've had some credit cards bill scams and have had clients that have been scammed as well.

It amazes me how many people will do private deals putting up their own money and be in second position on the deed.

I had some scamming take place but not Real Estate centered or related. When an agent who knows anything is involved, it just wont happen

No but attempts have been made. It pays to do due diligence and to remember the old saw, if it seems to be too good to be true it probably isn't true.

My dad was scammed more than once. I have not been nor have any of my clients admitted to being scammed. Scammers usually prey on the elderly. I am on high alert.

Thankfully, I have not.  I'm not unaware of any client scamming.  Some people are too embarrassed to discuss certain things.

I just had an odd one where someone bought 2 properties as an investor & had no cash & never applied for financing.  EM bounced too. To this day I have no idea what this lady's end objective was but she put 2 sellers in great financial peril.

Looked her up online & she was arrested in 2 surrounding counties for doing this.

Every day there are several attempts mostly from eMail. They also text me from a local area code. 

The worst I think is through AR an agent trying to give referral.  With similar phone # as agent with a I am busy now but please eMail me for the listing referral info.  I fell for it and acted quickly.  I wish those agents who get scammed will make a note through their website or eMail.

As for listing become a rental, that is common. Lasts 7 days. 

We have never been scammed but have seen it happen. There are many forms of scams for sure!

I got several calls from the IRS scam. 

thank god not me , but i have in my 18 year in the real estate and mortgage industry see client get into bad deals; just an example  i dont like deals like this tha you see  in phoenix sale owner to owner sale , wish buyer got his own title company to check that the purchase he was making was a real sale, like a tell client all the time get your own title company that you research to work on  your deal  its much better that way .
