Hi Barbara - I've heard rumors that such a thing exists - as it should - but I've never seen one, nor has anyone ever mentioned it in a transaction. We must be living under a rock out here in flyover territory.

   I am aware of the technology, but have not shown or sold a house yet where this might apply.

Would love that in my home and will put that on my husband's "to do" list!

No, but I'd sure get it. We had to hire a professional acrobat to clean the chandelier in my parents house.

I have not yet encountered that with new construction. 

I've known about this for a long time, but I've not seen any builders in our area offer this even as an upgrade.

What about high ceiling 23 ft recessed lights?

I have just become familiar with these pulley systems in the last two years and love them.  I would absolutely try to negotiate it as part of a new build with a two story foyer.

I'm with Dick Greenberg on this one. LOL. Rural living can have it's challenges. 

I haven't faced this issue as of yet.

I wish we had that feature in our home.

When we lived in Atlanta, we had a 2 story foyer and that upgrade should just be included, in my opinion, even if they up the price to include it.  I cannot imagine NOT having it and happily paid extra for it.  

Had not even thought of this, but have always wondered how we'd replace bulbs in our two-story chandelier.

That's how one of the fixtures in our home in London worked - was built in 1909...

I LOVE that upgrade and no, most buyers are unaware. In my own home i have a delicate climb up the railing to reach it

There are many two story foyer houses in my area and this would be a useful feature in many of them.

No, never heard about that or such negotiation. It is actually a great idea. 

Yes, I have heard of this before.  I am surprised how many new homes do NOT have this feature.

I had not heard of this but love the idea. It would be great if they could expand on it to include lower ceiling fans for cleaning...I hate that job!

Yes I am familiar and have used this upgrade as a negotiating issue.

Had one guy say he would leave his 10 step ladder for my clients.  I just laughed.

I showed a house a few years ago with that feature and I loved it! Literally I was telling a client about that home today because she was saying her hall fixture was dusty and it was hard to clean!

I sold a house that had that feature and that was the first thing the buyer showed everyone when they came to the house.

If I knew it was there I'd put it in the offer.

Real estate is negotiable--I would ask for it.

This has never been brought up and with the new longer life, multi-years CFL's, I have not heard of any of my homeowners that considered it a problem. I was aware of this type of fixture, though.

It's pricey I now that and depending on the property and situation seller might be willing to do so.  I've heard countless times.....man that is so high how will we change bulbs or clean that thing!!!
