Things like this generally depend on your attitude and expections.

Some can make it a productive day, others will sit around whining about forced floor time.

In the old days, it was a great way to save on the expense of a secretary!  Now days, why even have a store front?

Very passive way to generate business.  I would take those 2 hours and make phone calls or send out hand written notes. (IMHO)

My very first closing came from floor duty.  That's the only real success I recall other than having some focused time to address some projects.

We have an amazing location as well for floor. We get a number of calls, but often the best floor is walk-ins. The most we have been told in our typical 3 hour shifts have been 5 distinct clients from whom we have gotten names and contact information.  We close floor leads all the time.

In the old days it was fantastic. My entire career launched as the result of a spectacular floor call. Then cell phones came along and that was the end of that! I never do it anymore.

My company has no floor duty. Our agents are busy selling homes and taking care of clients.... we don't waste their time. And we don't have any real walk-in business either.

When I was actively doing floor time I would be happy with 4 leads in 2 hours! I used to generate 5-7 buyer sales a year when I did floor time (a 2-hour stint each week). Now I give the majority of my buyer leads to my assistant so she does all my floor time. Her results the last 2 years have been similar to what I used to get.

Floor duty provides some real opportunities in my office.  Some of the calls are about rentals, but certainly not all of them!

I stopped doing it long ago and now have my own firm. When I did do it, results were poor, although I did get some clients that way. Generally, I think it could be a waste of time, but I always found productive things to do when in the office.

Since we do not have a physical retail location it is a non-issue. Many years ago when I was with Re/Max, I did have walk-ins, but that was when the public depended more on agents for information. Today? FORGETABOUTIT!

Our floor duty is not traditional. We can be on floor from anymore and don't sit in the office. I get calls and respond. I have gotten leads and sales on several occasions and don't regret having accepted floor duty...

in my office floor duty is an 8 hour day.  Agents get drive in traffic, they get all internet leads for the day and all calls.  I would say an agent get 3 sales a month from floor duty in my office on average.

We have it in our office and the results are 2 calls in a 2-2.5 hour slot, with 80% chance that they are rental calls. As for walk-in traffic we may have 1 every 3-4 weeks.

I don't maintain an office as no one wants to sit in it for any period because not many people walk in.

WE rotate the office phone to all the agents and any call that comes in not assking for a certain person is taken as a floor call

We now do rotation calls only Annette. We don't have as many agents as you but we have a roster that the secretaries go down the list. If you refuse a rental or can't help someone for whatever reason you are bumped & go to the bottom of the pile. Lose your turn.

We have lots of support staff that does stuff so no need for us to be in office.

No one wants to just sit there & answer phones or be trapped in the office being unproductive.
