I have no problem rescheduling. I've found people are perfectly capable of understanding the human condition and that there really are no emergencies in real estate!

Depends on how sick I am... sometimes I just power through it. Other times I reschedule... people understand.

Esther,
If you are working with the right clients, they understand. But since we are a duo, we can switch and make it happen. A

Just had this happen the other day. I asked my husband to call the person to let them know I wasn't feeling well and couldn't make the appointment. My allergies sometimes cause me to have vertigo and I haven't had it happen for about 6 months. Emailed the person later in the evening and rescheduled. Most people are pretty understanding.

If I am unable to attend a showing my husband is my fill-in. But I do not get sick real often so it's not been a big problem for me. I also have a part-time Agent who I can call upon if my schedule is too booked to handle the extra work.

I too am rarely sick. As a stager, though, I find it pays to call ahead and inform the client I have a cold. I give them the option of rescheduling or not.

It's rare that I am sick but I have rescheduled with little problem. And in a coupld of cases the appointment was best kept for the client and I had help from a colleague

I've never missed appointments because of a sickness, but if I did I would call another agent in the office and pay them a referral fee.

Clients usually understand when you give them the reason that you are sick. No one wants to catch something. On the other hand, if it is a "time is of the essence" kind of thing, definitely have a team member step in or work it out in some other manner. How about Skype?

I do have REALTOR colleagues that will help, but usually tell my client that I am sick, and they usually do not want to see me. Luckily I don't get sick often.

Esther Preston fortunately for me, few of my colleagues take care of it.

In my office we help each other out. So I would see if another agent would help.

I do whatever is needed to get the job done. I don't like to hand off my clients but will if needed. We can hold most clients off if needed but for those that need immediate attention there are go to people.

I am part of a team and they step up. When I was with KW I called a friend
who took a client because of a death in my family.

When I was an active agent, If it was a showing, I'd get someone to do it. Other appointments, I rescheduled. Now, as a one woman show, it's all me or nothing. LOL

I suck it up and go to the appointment. The only exception to that would be if I were vomiting or had issues with the other end. Appointments should never turn into crap shoots. Sorry ... could not help myself.

I was always a listing agent and was rarely sick....once every 5 or 6 years.... but when I was, I'd call the homeowner and relay that I was sick but mobile and gave them the opportunity to reschedule or welcome me in their home.... especially if they had children....they needed to know.... one young couple told me to come to list and they didn't care if I came in my pajamas....WELL, I kept my pajama bottoms on.... I had a fever of 101....

We have a team just for this reason - not being sick but being able to help eachother
3,988,144
I do some of both. It totally depends on the client and what needs doing for the day.

I find it is more likely for the need to reschedule due to a client's needs than mine. Most people understand that "stuff" happens.

I've canceled or postponed. I've been sick with pneumonia and bacterial lungs infections since Sept 1rst and couldn't be around anyone. They can wait till I'm better, or get another agent.

It depends on the specific appointment. In many cases, it is a straightforward exercise to reschedule.
6,807,683
Depends on what the appmt is and with whom. I try to keep my people in the loop and ready to carry on without me if needed.

It depends on what the appointment is for and with whom Esther Preston. If it's doing an Open House and we are doing it as a Team, I can do it independently. If it's meeting a contractor at a house for an Estimate or repair work, I can do that myself. If it's showing homes I can do that myself, but if it's a First-Time Client Meeting I would be rescheduling, as that is a Presentation where Roger is totally involved.
5,579,998
This happens so rarely but, when I am on vacation, the rest of my team takes over for me and my clients know they can reach out to any of them to tour homes at any time. In our market, we can't afford to re-schedule so, one of us has to be available at all times!
