You should always believe there is a mic open, a camera clicking and in private, in public, think customer. Be a good person all the time is the goal to strive for and it takes a life time of improvement right? AR comments are not the primary barometer of how are we going for reputation. Your testimonials are.

I am not sure how much of the public is on here.  That would be a good question to ask if anyone knows.  

I am always mindful of clients reading posts and I do whatever I can to promote that blogger.... always....

As far as I'm concerned we are all using the Internet. AR is not a private place. (Even members only posts). Anytime I write a blog post, review or comment anywhere online - On Activerain, FB or anywhere else for that matter I consider that the whole world can see it. No exclusions or exceptions.

I try not to be to snarky here in the Q&A section, but I fail a lot at that.

They read out blogs, but are you referring to the comments we make on other posts?  I don't anyone could find my comments.  I believe I turned them off some time ago.  

It depends what you mean by "commenting." I don't worry much about what I write on an agent's blog in another state because a) my AR comments are blocked in my profile and b) nobody is likely to stumble upon it from California. However, in my own blog, you can bet your booties I make sure I don't talk about a current situation.

Great Question.  I am not sure how many times...but quite a few...where I was making a comment and then went back and changed it because I thought it could be interpreted the wrong way.  I tend to not talk in a public forum about a current ongoing issue.

When I read comments of some who do...I shake my head.  When I read comments from others who are more discreet I am amazed at the answers. I learn from many of those answers...even the ones I disagree with can have value.

I am always careful of everything I post online - not only on AR.    If I did learn something new in a transaction (that seems to be happening more nowadays!), and I feel others would benefit from it, then I will blog or post it to share so we can all learn and grow together.  Of course, I never mention confidential information at any times. 

One should never type what they are not willing to say in front of someone.

You should not comments on transactions that have not been completed.

I am always cautious of anything put online.  Everything is searchable.  I don't put anything that I wouldn't want held against me.  I express my opinion but avoid some subjects if dangerous.  Our reputation is everything and when it's online, it's staying alive forever.

I do not see how that would adversely affect the present situation.  I would simply assert my point of view and follow that through in the given transaction. 

I comment as if the public may read it.

I think we should always write like our favorite clients are reading us.

I sometimes frame my answer differently if a comment might reflect something current.  I never blog about a current pending deal.

I wrote a blog long ago about the first closing I missed. (was because my daughter had a car accident on the way to school that ended with her having surgery and my son in a cast)  My client... commented "hey I think that was me"  meaning the client I missed their closing.  That was a serious lesson for me in "who might be reading" my posts.

I am tell it like it is. People don't have to agree with me but as long as I am respectful in my comments, I believe I earn the respect back.

It does not bother me a bit since I do not leave frustrated/angry comments. I can mention a situation but I doubt any one specifically would be offended.

I always try to be positive and supporting when posting. I do not indulge the information of a transaction because it goes against the COE and do not want to break the trust of a client!

I don't discuss in-process deals in ANY social media.
Anything anecdotal from previous/past is nipped, tucked and tweaked to make unrecognizable by anyone who could have known.

I just use members only, but I don't really post like that anyhow-never transaction specific unless it's a good thing I'm bragging on, I still change the names and minor details so it's generic.

I would suggest to use general terms and not specifics.  I would not use names or current situations to blog about for that very reason.
