I used iHouse years ago and dropped them, but that was before the days of IDX. Have used them again for about two years now, but will probably drop them again. I know Will Hamm was using them and was happy with them.

I do not recommend third party sites. Get your own WordPress site and integrate IDX with the plugin. Own and control your business ... don't leave it in the hands of a third party provider.

I won't use them because of the duplicate content issues they have with their canned websites

I checked it out not too long ago & it seemed ok. Did not come up with the best price for the functions I wanted though.

I was with a 3 party for years and years...Got good results in old days. As others have mentioned I would encourage you to consider your custom wordpress site. This will help you define your personality your content and your marketing style.

Sorry, haven't used them. I prefer to "code my own" and not worry about large monthly fees.

Lana,
Looks like you have lots of suggestions here. We use WordPress for our client's sites, and it is a great platform. A

I used them for a while but dropped them for a few reasons: 1) They are expensive and 2) you dont own the content of your site. If you decide you want to have another company host your site, you can't move it. 3) They have a proprietary backend.
I switched over to Wordpress. I created my own website because I didn't want to pay anyone for it.... but it was a huge amount of work for me and I would never try to do it myself again.
That being said, if you dont have a site at all, there are a number of companies that you can go to that offer websites and IDX. Nothing terribly fancy, some basic themes, but what you really want is a site that people can see who you are, how you do your business, search for properties, a blog, and provide some content about the neighborhood(s) you service. All of that - except the IDX - you create yourself. You dont need to spend thousands on a site if no one sees it. Start basic, build from there. As you gain rankings in Google, and generate more business either from your site or other means, then you can go all out. I have an agent friend of mine uses a company called websitebox.com They set her site up for $99 including IDX. For her, its her online business card. It gives her online credibility and she can blog on it, people can search for properties, and she has information about herself and her business and the community....

If it were me, I would be careful of the duplicate content issues they've had in the past.
Also, I would check to see how their sites rank for various keywords before jumping in

Lana -- I'm not familiar with iHouse but as usual, ActiveRain has a membership that has lots of knowledge and a willingness to share information. Good luck.

Never used them. Always custom design and write our own sites with IDX feeds.

Hello Lana Kosik
I have used iHouse for many years and am very happy with their service. They are always helpful, offer custom service for their web templates to personalize them and were mobile friendly before most.

I checked them out a few years ago and decided to go in a different direction. I didn't think it gave me enough options.

Hello Lana, I started using them in 1999. Lots of traffic in the early years. Not so much now but that is because of all the company sites.
