I think everyone has made some great suggestions. It could be a lot worse.

You're in Hawaii -  surely an ugly mailbox is problem 101 on the list!!

I would repaint the mailbox, and I would lovish all that dirt with gorgeous flowers.  This is island paradise, and you have so many lovely flowers...A

Clean out the flower bed and add fresh bright colors / stones / small rock.  Frame a square around the bottom  of wooden post and wrap that with stone. (half way up the post) Kathleen Luiten  The mailbox itself is fine if that's the normal for the street. 

Looks fine to me. If i was a buyer, this mailbox and post would not affect my decision. Removing weeds might improve curb appeal.

Paint and a few flowers especially a climbing vine type may make a 100% worth of difference without changing the post or box.

I see a lot of this type of mailbox in front yards in my area. It doesn't bother buyers or me. 

Pull the weeds, add fresh lava rock plant some color!

Perhaps freshen the stones,  get rid of the weeds, add a few flowers, a fresh coat of paint on the post and a new white mailbox

Interesting paint colors and perhaps some flowers in the bed.

Nothing that a can of spray paint and some decent colorful plants can't cure. After all it is a mailbx and not a piece of art. It has function!

Mail boxes are a utility for most and easily overlooked. 

Kathleen, when I look at this photo, it's not the mailbox that comes into focus!

It would be helpful to include a photo for us urban folk.  In any event, you may want to paint the post and replace the mailbox with a nice one since it needs to be replaced.

If the local ordinance allows it, an easy fix would be to paint it.

I had a great paint mail box of flowers till someone stole it.

I say paint mailbox and plant some flowers.  Seasonal decorations on a mailbox with a wrap aren't bad either.

Rustic charm.  You could always paint it or get one of those mailbox wraps.  Or just replace it with a new one.  Honestly though, the mailbox is never an issue out here as they are cheap to fix/change.  With that view, I wouldn't worry about it.

You can have one made that looks like the house is one thought. I have Googled this & they have many styles to choose from & some cost a plenty too

We can easily spray paint the box black and red.

Spray paint that sun bleached mail box.

1. In Charlotte area many of our homes are in subdivisions, who regulate the type and style of post box so that they are uniform.

2. New USPS regulations no longer allow individual post boxes in front of homes... so some of this issue will gradually go away for newly built communities starting about 2 years ago.

A coat of paint could improve the appearnce. And, add the house number.

With that beautiful location -- who is looking at the mailbox?  Let's remember priorities.  

A simple paint would help.  Yet, landscaping is bothering me more.

Outside of some weed abatement, new stones by the driveway (just add to the current grey stones) and edge the grass by what will now become their new, small, flowerbed area - from the fern to the end of the brown stones.  Plant seasonal small flowers in that area, and put in brown bark between the plants.  I realize you need to leave the mailbox post, and I would repaint the box in fresh black paint, and add a 'palm tree' as the sign you put up when the mailperson delivers the mail (as opposed to a red flag), if they will let you do that!  For me, this is an easy fix, just to add some color Kathleen Luiten. 

I've never had that on my list of replacements that I think a seller should make prior to placing their home on the market. Security is usually more important. I had an Armadillo Steel Mailbox installed and highly recommend them.
