when I leave a comment, I always promote the agent who wrote the post and I make the suggestion that the reader call that agent..... I mention the agents name a couple of times within the comment....

We comment from truth and the heart. If others don't like our comments, then don't read them. We are originals!

Barbara Todaro has a great answer. But I can't say I'm very systematic in strategizing comments... I respond to the topic, the question, sometimes to other comments as it "strikes" me.

I agree with Nina Hollander and Barbara Todaro .  Above all, I make an effort to be kind, and if I can't I don't comment.  I refuse to bow to the Google gods and their bot minions.  We all hate bowing to political correctedness now we have to twist ourselves into SEO correctedness?

I think there is a strategy not to hit people over the head with what is right or wrong SEO. Not all gurus truly know what they are doing I'm afraid.

  Use keywords, agent's name and location to help that Agent.  

  Promoting yourself by commenting on another person's post or page is trickier, since "Etiquette" prohibits you from posting a signature or a back link to your own page or website.

Good question.  I've never thought of that.  I always leave positive comments with well wishes though.

I have wondered about this, too. I think Fred Griffin has a great answer. 

It does help to mention the name, area, keywords and the like. But beyond that a sincere comment is the most appreciated and one that shows the reader actually read the post.

I try to mention key words, depending on the topic (say market reports) sometimes. But I guess my focus is more on providing my comment rather than contributing to SEO. I llike Barbara Todaro 's response!

The golden rule works.  In comments.  In strategy.  In life.  

Drive by comments show a lack of consideration and an excellent way of never being considered for a return comment or a possible referral.

I never thought of SEO when answering questions.  This is interesting.  Carol Williams I'm learning something new everyday!

I have not taken SEO into account when making comments on other people's blog posts.

I like that idea. It didn't occur to me that we can help each other's SEO. THANK YOU  Barbara Todaro for telling me how to do it!

For listings and for locations it can help to re-post the address and/or location.

Aside from SEO considerations, comments need to be sincere and respectful and oh, yes - knowledge helps.

I think more comments will get you the juice- More interactions from different locations.

The SEO consequences of a comment never even occurred to me.

I hyperlink the poster's name and I ask my re-blog readers to comment on their original post. I re-blog to highlight the original post (which impressed me) so I prefer they get the comments.

I do the same as Nina and you.
