I don't do open houses, but if I did I would not be baking or serving food.

I have an open house, but I do not bring any food anymore, only bottles of  water and marketing material.

I may have bottled water at an open house but I don't touch the oven.

     Some gurus will tell you to put cinnamon oil in a dish, bake cookies, put lemons in the garbage disposal, etc.   I've never done any of that.

    Serving food or wine...   maybe on an invitation high-end or luxury Open House, catered.  Otherwise, no.

I used to put some vanilla on a piece of foil but now I don't serve sancks anymore so that doesn't seem appropriate.

If I did, there would be a good chance I would either stink up the home or burn it down.

No, I would not bake, nor would I serve food, and especially not wine...there are all kinds of issues with alcohol that may come back and haunt you.  Water and marketing material is just fine.  A

we only have food catered during a Broker Open House.... we don't feed the public....

I'm assuming that your goal is to send that "fresh-baked-bread" aroma throughout the house, making it warm and welcoming.

I have heard of people who have done that... but I ain't one of 'em.  I used to put a cinnamon stick boiling in a pot on the stove... but since the advent of Febreze, that's no longer necessary.

One of our local agents bakes chocolate chip cookies at open houses. It is a great idea if acceptable to the home sellers.

We have food - usually a full lunch - at our brokers opens and it stimulates a big turn out. For regular open houses no food but usually bottled water.

I don't use the sellers appliances,  Bottled water and cookies are sufficient.

"Oh those fresh baked cookies smell great, but what is the smell covering up?"   That's what I think (after devouring the plate of cookies).

I don't serve food or drinks at open houses (with the exception of a broker's open).  Too much trash is created and there is too much risk of furniture getting damaged.  Plus there is some liability if you serve alcohol.

Tolhouse cookies and Starbucks coffee...Minimal mess, easy to do, smells great when they walk in and people ALWAYS appreciate it...

In a seller's market, nobody cares. When that changes, the little things will go a long way...

If it's a brokers' open with food, I've used the seller's oven - with their permission.

I have done this while I was still trying to figure out why open houses don't work in my area. I haven't done an open house is probably eight years.

We are there to sell or rent a home, best if all are concentrating on that alone.

No, I bake brownies at home and will sometimes warm them in the microwave.  I don't want the house to be overly warm.

If it's a larger luxury property I usually have a tray of locally baked goodies out in the kitchen along with bottled waters.

No food and no wine for us Cristal Clark.  For clients there is just water!  Alot of our homes are vacant, so to bake there I would need a few items, and not just the food.  If it is an Office Home Tour there is nothing, as agents are going from house to house, and they may not even be in the same community. 

Once in a while! No food or wine! On a hot day, bottled water!

The market is moving well so very little assist is necessary to attract attention
