I no longer do radio since I could never track any business to it. I only use newspaper to advertise open houses.

No. A few years ago I was a guest speaker several times on a radio show - that is the extent of it.

I support our local military with an ad in their New Comers Base Magazine.
I manage to operate between 88%-96% working by referral year to year. The non-referrals are mostly Yelp.com and listing sign calls. I do go on as a guest and get interviews on our local news, radio & I'm starting to get Podcast interviews.

Esther,
It really has to do with your marketplace. In certain communities the paper delivered to their doorstep is part of their life's ritual, and no, they are not all oldies...so yes for ads. In second home communities, yes! People pick up all those local guides and do read them and go to open houses and end up buying. A

No print for me... no payback. Have never done radio. I believe it's very expensive.

No but I was asked to be on a radio station recently & I turned it down. I couldn't see it as a true revenue generator - maybe good for my ego but not my wallet in the end.

Our brokerage still does some print newspaper ads. Here that can still be effective. But it's a very small part of our marketing.

We have done all the above. Not anymore. Direct mail works better than newspaper, radio nd TV put together.

it really varies by market. BUT..in general newspaper is dead, radio is good but cable is likely better as you can target zip codes

I have advertised my open houses in the city newspaper. Nothing, it's never helped. Radio? No but many agents do use radio.

No I don't. I tried some newspaper ads before but it was a waste of money. I know some people who have success with radio, and TV

I do some glossy full color magazines. Lake Life if the title and I just run a branding ad in there and I get free copies for clients. Clients love it

Very local town papers can be effective for open houses or as visibility to potential sellers.

No. I don't advertise on any of the "dead media" outlets. Newspapers are best used to start my BBQ. Radio is something I listen to when I want to hear the traffic.

Newspaper - yes.
Raido/television - never have. Our market is too large and too expensive to justify the expense.

My last newspaper ad was in 2006. $70 for an open house advertisement.
Radio - several years ago I was a guest on a local talk show. But I have never paid for radio ads.

Since real estate is local you need to check out the norm for your area. I do not do newspaper or radio.

I ahve done some advertising in newspapers recently, but am luke warm about it. Am starting a major "branding" campaign in an upscale glossy magazine next month. Can't wait to see what will happen. Radio I use for the Carmel Art Festival, the non profit I help organize annually, and it works very well. Wouldn't do it for my real estate brokerage.
