The golden rule works for us.  A

That whenever a person says, "I am telling you the truth", or "Honestly"; then question the veracity of what is being stated.

The two that immediately popped into my mind were:

                                                             AND...

I treat others as I wish to be treated. Can't beat that old golden rule.

The pain of regret lasts much longer than the pain of discipline.

My BIL's favourite line was "You Snooze, You Lose!"

When I am uncomfortable doing something, I tell myself the other person or people do not know it unless I tell them.  Be confident!
